"Brad arrived as scheduled. He confirmed that the chimney itself did not block the airflow directly. He then promptly determined that the flue was not positioned correctly. He toggled the flue a number of times to reset and started a fire to confirm that the smoke was correctly flowing upward. He answered my many questions and reassured me that the fireplace is now working properly."

Family owned & operated. No subs. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges. No service fee. May contact through e-mail. Additional contact: Nick Kuhn.

"Called, spoke to Janet and scheduled a gutter cleaning, agreeing to pay their $100/hr one-hour minimum to have my gutters cleaned --- all two (2) of them. Straight lines, one front and one back, each with one (1) downspout on the end. Couldn't be an easier job. I did it myself last year but, at age 75, don't like climbing extension ladders any more. Took them all of 20 minutes, with one guy climbing and one holding the ladder. That night, we got a heavy downpour and the back gutter overflowed everywhere. Called them. Janet said they would come back the following week and take a look but said it's probably "holes in the downspout", needing repair. Say what? The weather report was calling for flash flooding the next day so I climbed up there myself and found (surprise!) a big pile of twigs and dry leaves blocking the downspout, which I quickly and easily removed (see attached pics showing before and after I cleared the blockage). I called Janet back to cancel the return trip and indicated that I would be willing to accept a partial refund if offered. Janet ignored that suggestion and stated that the blockage must have formed after they did the job (8 hours?). Sounds to me like part of their MO --- i.e. they come back and report that the gutters and/or downspouts have failed and need to be replaced. As if $300/hour wasn't enough. AVOID!!!"

Veteran owned, local business. Insured. PA Home Improvement Contractor # 085158.

"Never provided an official estimate or any follow up at all. We were told they took pictures and would put together an official estimate for work needed. Never happened, zero contact after initial 10 minute $129 visit. Also, did not follow local mask mandate and could not work the fireplace flue, which is not difficult to operate."

FAQs for chimney repair projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Chimney repairs can take many forms for a seemingly simple structure, and costs can vary widely. Common chimney repairs include:

  • Chimney flashing repair: $150–$500

  • Repointing mortar joints: $400–$2,500

  • Repair or replacement of flue liners: $200–$7,000

  • Patching brick or stone: $350–$3,000

  • Pouring a new concrete top: $100–$3,000

  • Repairing chimney caps: $75–$1,000

The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.

Some of the most common chimney problems include:

  • Creosote buildup

  • Chimney blockage

  • Deteriorating brickwork or stonework

  • Cracked chimney top

  • Damaged flashing

  • Flue liner damage or deterioration

  • Damaged chimney cap

If you suspect you have a chimney problem, contact a masonry contractor for an inspection.

On average, chimney repairs cost about $455. However, because of the vast range of potential repairs needed, the cost to repair a chimney ranges widely from $160 to $15,000, depending on the type and extent of repairs required.

The cost to replace a chimney is about $10,000 on average and can cost up to $15,000, depending on the size, accessibility, materials, and extent of the replacement. Sometimes tearing the chimney down to the roof line and rebuilding it is an option. But if the chimney's internal structure deteriorates badly enough, a complete demolition down to the fireplace or the foundation may be necessary.
