"Natalie and Vincent were joy to work with and did a professional painting of our exterior large two-story home. Their bid was very reasonable and the customer service was responsive and thoughtful. They put an extra paint coat on our front door, took off fixtures as needed and painted with two coats. They took the time to explain what they were doing. They also provided paint color consultation with Sherman Williams, which made a difference in our satisfaction with the overall look. We highly recommend Cascadia Pro Paint."

Small jobs welcome

"Davidson painting was on time each day, professional, courteous and even came on the weekend. Price was excellent and paint job came out very nice. The owner Doug was friendly, cleaned up each day and I would highly recommend Davidson painting to anyone. My home value went up more than what the painting cost me. Very happy with the job, thank you!"

"James came ready to do a job to help me be able to walk up and down our stairs since i have a badly injured leg and cannot use the stairs without railings. I might add that we have a 100+ year old Craftsman home and James understood that and his work building and painting the railings shows that he "gets" that we wanted something that matched our historic home. YES, we would hire him again."

"They were not available for my microwave but did other work for me. They are my first choice for all home handyman needs. They did my front room that had had water damage in the floor and walls. They replaced my floor and some of the dry rot in the sub floor. They removed some mold and plaster and re plastered it. texture and trim was also done very well. The workmanship and persistence the job was very difficult in the end. He Also did some removal and demolished a old plywood awning that was a hazard. Also, painted both sides of my home and some trim also. He also replaced and repaired a 20 feet of fencing damaged and replaced hauled all remnants off. cleaned all of areas worked. Will use for any future needs. Always a pleasure."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.

If you don’t treat a cedar fence, it will turn from reddish brown to gray over time. You can keep the cedar from graying and retain its attractive, deep red color by sealing your cedar fence with a stain that keeps the wood’s oils in and serves as a barrier against the sun’s UV rays.

A cedar fence will actually last quite a long time even if you don’t treat it with stain. In fact, you can expect to get between 15 and 30 years out of an untreated cedar fence. However, if you want to preserve its color and extend its life, treat it with a combination stain and sealer every three to five years.

There are several ways to make a wooden fence more visually appealing and keep it that way for years to come.

  • Treat the fence with a wood sealant to protect it against the elements. It’s recommended to reseal a fence every two to three years, but if you live in a harsh climate, you may want to do it more frequently than that.

  • Restore the fence if it’s old, corroding, or fading. That includes cleaning it and making small repairs where needed.

  • Paint the fence in a color that you like, whether that’s a simple white or more vibrant option. Fences usually need to be repainted every one to three years.

  • Decorate the fence with planters, string lights, birdhouses, mirrors, shutters, and more.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.
