"The company is wonderful. I used them some 20 years earlier, and wouldn't dream of using another company now. This time, as before, they were professional, courteous, extrememely hard-working, and terrifically efficient. They were easy to contact, and answered all my questions immediately. The job is beautifully done. Samantha, the owner, and Ben (the lead person on dry rot repair prior to painting) were absolutely great. Submitted by Roger Porter ([email protected]) Summer, 2021."

"Shades of Rose was recommended to us by another painting service who thought the paint peeling issue with our house was due to having a layer of oil-based paint applied at some point and he didn't want to deal with it. However, when Tyler came to bid on the project, he not only tested the old paint for lead but also diagnosed the issue as simply a really poor paint job and the wrong kind of product used the last time the house was done. Needless to say, Tyler's time and attention won us over, along with his competitive bid. The painters of Shades of Rose who worked on our house were really friendly and took great care to ensure the house was well prepped and plants along the house were minimally impacted during the job. Workers showed up on time and worked diligently throughout the day. When the work was completed (in 3.5 days) there were a number of areas that had been overlooked - some obvious and some not as much - prior to calling it 'done'. However, Tyler and the Project Manager came to the house the following day to ensure all matters were swiftly addressed (that day) and that we were fully satisfied with the outcome before paying the balance. I appreciate Tyler's high standards and quality customer service and would strongly recommend them to others!"

Small jobs welcome

"Integrity Construction painted my two houses using experienced workmanship and worked long hours to get the project completed. My neighbors were interested in who was doing the project and was impressed, as I, with the quality. I will recommend IC&R and use them again."

Painting questions, answered by experts

If your cedar fence is new, don’t delay. Unlike treated pine, you don’t need to wait months for the wood to dry out for it to accept stain. With cedar, the sooner, the better. Seal cedar within two weeks of installation to prevent the sun from fading its red color.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

The best time to stain a fence is when the weather is dry and temperatures are between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Late spring, early summer, and fall are typically the best seasons for this project. You should avoid staining during very hot weather, like in the middle of summer, or when it is raining. Heat and moisture can cause the stain to dry unevenly. Likewise, if it's too cold, such as in winter or early spring, the stain may not be able to dry fully. Before you start, check the forecast to ensure there will be no rain and low humidity for at least a few days.

Yes, you can paint a chain-link fence, but you don’t want to use spray paint. With the spray method, you’ll be losing a majority of your product to the air, given the size of the gaps in chain-link fences. Instead, use a paintbrush for your fence posts and a paint roller for the wire.

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.
