"I just bought a new home and wanted to completely re-do the paint job it currently had. I also wanted to get some advice on color choices, palettes, and making colors work well with decorations, etc. Brian recommended a color consultant who walked me through selecting, what I feel, are the perfect colors for my new home. Despite a crazy storm, Brian seemed committed to completing the job to my satisfaction. I liked the work so much, I had him do the interior of my garage as well. I'd definitely work with him and his color consultant again."

"Ken Smith and his team were professional and punctual throughout the experience, and always arrived on time. We got 3 bids from Portland area painting companies, all rated very highly on Angie's List. Ken's was the lowest, but that is not the main reason we hired him. He also provided the type of paint job we sought which included back-brushing the second coat instead of rolling and using Miller Paint. The house had last been painted 14 years ago. The paint job itself had held up pretty well, but the paint was oxidizing badly and changing color. We also had some mildew. Ken came to see our house for an estimate in mid-April. We received Ken's bid and proposed contract 3 days later by email. The price included discounts offered to Angie's List members and seniors. His service also includes a 3-year warranty, but customers have the option of adding up to 3 more years at extra cost. We opted to accept the standard warranty rather than pay for an the extra one, partly on his recommendation.  Ken came to our house in early May to go over the contract and proposed schedule.  Basically the job included pressure washing with a bleach product, masking off and covering windows, covering plants and concrete areas, scraping and sanding loose paint areas, recaulking, base coat on the siding sprayed on with second coat brushed on, trim brushed on, large doors sprayed. Shutters were removed, sprayed and replaced. We asked for a few things to be specified further in an attached addendum which Ken readily agreed to accept. We gave Ken a 25% deposit the day we signed the contract and stayed in touch by email. He called the day before when it was time to start the actual work. Chad power-washed the housed on 6/6. The painting was tentatively scheduled to begin the following week, but it rained every day.  As soon as the weather cleared, Ken called to say that his team could start mid-morning the next day (6/18). Workers began arriving around 10:45. There were 7 of them the first day, 5 the next. Ken also came part of the time. They began working immediately and steadily under the lead of Scott. It was obvious that each member of the team knew what to do as they all set about specific tasks. By 4 p.m. the front and south side of the house had been sprayed while other areas were scraped and prepped. Five workers began arriving the next morning shortly after 7:00 a.m. Workers finished spraying the rest of the house while others caulked, painted the trim, shutters and doors, etc.  The entire project was completed at 3:30 the second day. We walked around with Ken and noticed a few minor things which were fixed immediately. After they left, I could find very little evidence they'd been here - only a few very small pieces of tape and flaked off paint that had blown under shrubs. And the house looks great - in just 13.5 hours of work.

"The project went excellently. Jorge and his crew cleaned, prepped and painted the siding, eaves, exterior doors and gutters of my 50+ house. They were very professional and completed the job on time as promised in spite of the 90+ heat in early August. The gutters required 3 coats of paint to cover the deep red which they recommended after the 2nd coat. The entire project was completed in 4 days. Upon completion they cleaned up and removed all painting related materials. I highly recommend this company and will use them again in the future for further painting as needed."

"Nicholaus was great! So professional, punctual, always kept me in the loop while I was at work. It started with him just painting the fascia, but he noticed that my window frames needed peeled and repainted as well. He asked if I wanted that done too and I said absolutely! He went around my house and took off all the storm windows, peeled and sanded, and repainted them. He went to above and beyond what I had expected. He even power washed my entire house and washed my windows for no extra charge, removed my gutters and washed and replaced them better than they were before. It was about a 4 day job. I would most definitely recommend Nick to anyone and will hire him again. Very good guy. Thanks Nick!"

"Peak Pro Painters were great from start to finish. Dan was amazing about getting us scheduled when it was convenient for us and completing the project in a timely and professional manner, going above and beyond for our needs. We have vaulted ceilings and a lot of intricate and odd areas which they painted with ease. Overall, very impressed, they will be my first call if I have anymore painting projects!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

Accent walls can feel out of place or distracting if not well designed. Accent walls that don’t fit in with a room’s style can feel jarring or overpowering. Some accent wall styles can also feel dated, but fortunately, it’s easier to update a single wall than an entire room.

Wallpaper in bathrooms can last anywhere from one to 10 years, depending on what type was used, how well it was installed, and the measures in place to reduce moisture and humidity levels. Opting for a more durable variety and taking all the necessary protective measures will get you closer to that longer lifespan.

It can take a professional anywhere between several hours and a full day to remove wallpaper in one room. How long wallpaper removal takes depends on the type of adhesive, the wallpaper’s age, the condition of the walls, and more.
