"Integrity Air is A-1 in my book. Great prices, great installers and wonderful customer service. I had been told by other HVAC companies that AC would not fit in the space I had, but Integrity found a way and did a wonderful job. The installers were quick and very courteous, my salesman answered every question I had. And the price was very reasonable, much lower than I expected."

"FIVE STAR BUSINESS!!!!! This business was recommended to us by Roth HVAC in Canby. The initial phone call was answered in the most professional and polite way. Was able to get an appointment within a few days. We had soot and smoke damage to our home from the Mollala fires. We had a restoration service that worked on removing the soot. But we also wanted our ducts cleaned. I ordered the duct cleaning, plus the dryer vent cleaning and the Antimicrobial Treatment (highly recommend). Our visit was scheduled for 8AM. Twenty minutes before arrival, we received a call with the ETA. Well, Neal and Jesse................competent, thorough, professional, incredible people. And a great sense of humor. Answered all of our questions, very knowledgeable. Followed all Covid-19 guidelines from masks to distancing. Very respectful. If you need quality duct cleaning done right, call them now!! Seize this opportunity to have the work done professionally."

"I was really delighted with the amazing quality of the installation work. The work included breaking through concrete to re route the duct work so that the furnace could be installed in the garage instead of the crawl space. Their work was phenomenal. Most of the other HVAC companies would not tackle this job because it was so extensive, requiring this work with the concrete as well as doing a roof penetration to exhaust the new furnace. the workers were extremely professional and clean. These are the folks to call if you have a complicated retrofit furnace and AC need."

"After an energy audit which was very informative and helpful, we moved ahead with attic insulation/sealing that we found let our home internal temperatures to raise by 2 degrees. The manual furnace damper allowed us to adjust the flow of the furnace output to equalize the temps in each area of the home. Our house had very defined cold spots, and now the rooms are able to be heated to the same temp throughout the home, even with the recent cold spell. We are very grateful for their expertise and their staff and workers were very responsive."

"Very pleasant experience. Punctual and professional. It would have been helpful to know the amount of noise that putting in a new furnace causes, I would have rescheduled some of my business activities, but the job was done well. Duct work was brought up to code and passed inspection. However at my home, there was an issue passing the inspection. They did not vent the air conditioner adequately. When we failed the inspection, they came out on that very day and corrected the problem. There was/is the inconvenience of a second inspection."

"It was really a great experience from the very beginning. I found them online, on an advertisement on my phone. I clicked on the ad, which led me to their website. I filled out the contact form and within 2 hours someone called me to make an appt. They explained over the phone that it would be an "arrival window" of 3 hours, and I was expecting something like that. They called this morning to let me know they were on their way, which I thought was very nice. The technician, Dave, arrived at the very beginning of their "arrival window", which was also nice. The technician arrived in a nice, professionally lettered company van, which I appreciate. You'd be surprised how many companies DON'T do that. Dave was in a nice uniform, seemed clean-cut and pleasant. I showed the him around to where my furnace, thermostat and A/C unit were and left him to do his thing. All I had requested of them was a tune-up and just a once-over on both the furnace and the A/C unit. Just some preventative maintenance, so that we wouldn't have any problems [that could have been prevented] this winter with the furnace or next spring when we went to turn on the A/C unit. He did find some things that needed replaced and cleaned out with our A/C unit and said he was surprised to hear it was still working well. It would have probably failed next season if we hadn't have had him out to fix these problems. There wasn't much wrong with our furnace, but I was glad he checked it out. He replaced our screens in our furnace. That was cool that this was included as part of the service call. He also stayed and talked with me for 5-10 minutes about the age of my furnace, what to keep an eye out for, and how much longer I should expect it to last. That was very nice and I could tell he really knew his business well, which added to my confidence in this company. The service took about 90 minutes and I felt the price they charged was very fair. It was probably more than some companies charge, but I would rather have a really professional outfit for a little more money than save money and have a less professional company. So to me, the rate I paid was a good value. I was just impressed all the way around with this company and with Dave. I'd recommend this company to anyone looking for HVAC work. They are a professional outfit, all the way down the line.

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. You might also consider installing a window unit in your bedroom so that you can be cooler in bed without wasting energy cooling the whole house.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

If you know how to identify supply and return ducts, you’ll find that only the supply ducts will have dampers. Although your return ducts can have dampers, it’s not common. If you have one return duct that is pulling in too much air, adding a damper to it can help with overall system performance. However, dampers on return ducts are not a necessary addition for most homes.

The DOE is phasing out AC units with SEER ratings that fall below 14 or 15. The exact minimum rating depends on your region. In the northern United States, new ACs must have a minimum SEER rating of 14, though you can still buy and install older systems as long as they were compliant when they were manufactured. In the southern and southwestern United States, you cannot buy or install older air conditioners with lower SEER ratings. The minimum rating is between 14.5 and 15, depending on the power of the unit.
