"John was wonderfully efficient and timely in his work. We love our new system and are very pleased with how quiet the system works. The price was very reasonable. John also walked us through how everything worked and answered all our questions. Totally happy and would definitely recommend Evergreen to anyone--in fact, our daughter and son-in-law also installed the same system for the garage door at their home."

"Driveway is unfinished because they did not get the permits required from the county. Five feet to road is gravel. They say they will be back to finish when approved but it will not be an all in one job!"

Small jobs welcome

"After trying to deal with other contractors, some on Home Advisor, and finding them to be extremely unresponsive, I contacted Alamo Paving. From my first phone call, this company was outstanding; they responded promptly and committed to an install date immediately. This company is second generation family owned, has permanent employees, not temporary pick up help, The owners are on site throughout the work project and you know that, if there ever is a problem, they will be there for you. Others may have disappeared, or be non responsive until you file a complaint with the Oregon Contractors Board. Matt went above and beyond to secure the highest quality of asphalt for our driveway project; I doubt that many others would have taken the time to do so. I will be an unqualified reference for this company to anyone who asks."

"My neighbor used Rainland to replace his driveway and public sidewalk and I approached them in hopes of getting a good price on my driveway as they were working in the neighborhood. I'd received other bids and Rainland's was the lowest. I adjusted the job to include stamping and coloring, with a border of a different design. I found Tony (the supervisor) very easy to work with, but the result wasn't perfect. The driveway abuts the foundation of my house and cement was splattered on the shingles. Stakes were left in the ground after the job was done and the driveway doesn't appear to be completely straight when observing it from the street. Also, the surface of the driveway is not flat, there are shallow depressions that form puddles when it rains. However, I no longer have to contend with the lake that used to form in a large crack by the side step! The City didn't approve the driveway design at the street and Rainland had to redo the edges and charged me for it, as well as an additional amount to have the driveway sealed. The step was done a year later and more concrete was splashed on adjacent shingles. All in all, I am glad the job is done but quality is lacking and it ended up costing me much more than the original bid. I will never again take the lowest bid!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

By grading and compacting the base soil, ensuring proper drainage and stability.

You can expect your asphalt pavement to last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, or 25 years on average. The life expectancy of your asphalt driveway depends on the climate, the amount of traffic, and how well you maintain it. While you can’t necessarily control some of these factors, you can control the amount of maintenance effort you put into your driveway.

To prevent your asphalt from deteriorating prematurely, you should follow a good maintenance routine involving regular cleaning, reparation work, and resealing.

Yes, a paved or repaved driveway can boost your home's value by increasing its curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space. A new driveway can add anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to a property's value. An old, crumbling driveway can be a red flag for potential buyers and inspectors.

The amount of value added depends on the materials used, the design, and local market conditions. Concrete is often cited as adding the most value due to its long lifespan, though asphalt may be more desirable in colder climates. The return on investment is greatest when replacing a driveway that is in poor condition; repaving a driveway that is already in good shape will not yield as significant an increase in value.
