"9/15--installed heat pump; next day someone from the company came back to "ground" the system which apparently they forgot to do when they  installed it the day before (at least they recognized it).  

3/16--Six months later: New thermostat/heat stopped working.  Called company and someone was to come at end of the day.  Secretary (not Anita) was very unhelpful and patronizing when I called to ask for an approximate time.  Person came and said the furnace needs a new "mother board," promised to call in AM to get going but never called back.  Finally got a hold of him and he came back in the evening although unfortunately the board did not fit our system.  Waited a day before someone else came with the correct board but he discovered the real problem to be the heat exchanger which he said was defunct and that we needed a new furnace ("too dangerous to operate the current one").  

Salesperson Dave came over and calculated what we needed; he was detailed and informative and tried to be accommodating in terms of the 6 month old thermostat put in with the heat pump which would not work for the new furnace, stating he will see if we can get reimbursed for it.  He also tried getting us some complimentary tuneups in the future since we are spending big money with this company for the heat pump and furnace.  Nothing came out of this attempt and after emailing several times I never heard anything more and assume the company is done with us.  

After the furnace was installed they could not turn it on because they had forgotten to get the new thermostat and had to come back the next day to install that (luckily we had the heat pump to keep us warm).   

Unhelpful secretary, wrong diagnosis resulting in wasted time/effort all around, forgetting to "ground" the system, forgetting other parts, unfulfilled promises, all of which makes giving the company an A very difficult.  

This company can do better in terms of communication and better assessment of the problem (so it doesn't feel like everyone is doing piecemeal work).   Staff were courteous and professional (except for the secretary).   

The finished product is working okay up to now.  I hesitate to call them again especially if I have to talk to that very unhelpful secretary. "

The owner, the service techs, and the guys who do the installation were all nice people and easy to work with -- they were careful and thorough, and happy to answer all my questions and problem-solve with me about optimizing our HVAC system. We live in an older house, and they improved airflow to the upper level, added return vents, and advised me on realistic energy saving. They also ran a blower door test. They were so good that when our water heater started to fail, I had them do the replacement. "It was really a great experience from the very beginning. I found them online, on an advertisement on my phone. I clicked on the ad, which led me to their website. I filled out the contact form and within 2 hours someone called me to make an appt. They explained over the phone that it would be an "arrival window" of 3 hours, and I was expecting something like that. They called this morning to let me know they were on their way, which I thought was very nice. The technician, Dave, arrived at the very beginning of their "arrival window", which was also nice. The technician arrived in a nice, professionally lettered company van, which I appreciate. You'd be surprised how many companies DON'T do that. Dave was in a nice uniform, seemed clean-cut and pleasant. I showed the him around to where my furnace, thermostat and A/C unit were and left him to do his thing. All I had requested of them was a tune-up and just a once-over on both the furnace and the A/C unit. Just some preventative maintenance, so that we wouldn't have any problems [that could have been prevented] this winter with the furnace or next spring when we went to turn on the A/C unit. He did find some things that needed replaced and cleaned out with our A/C unit and said he was surprised to hear it was still working well. It would have probably failed next season if we hadn't have had him out to fix these problems. There wasn't much wrong with our furnace, but I was glad he checked it out. He replaced our screens in our furnace. That was cool that this was included as part of the service call. He also stayed and talked with me for 5-10 minutes about the age of my furnace, what to keep an eye out for, and how much longer I should expect it to last. That was very nice and I could tell he really knew his business well, which added to my confidence in this company. The service took about 90 minutes and I felt the price they charged was very fair. It was probably more than some companies charge, but I would rather have a really professional outfit for a little more money than save money and have a less professional company. So to me, the rate I paid was a good value. I was just impressed all the way around with this company and with Dave. I'd recommend this company to anyone looking for HVAC work. They are a professional outfit, all the way down the line.
