Customers say: Super punctual

"They phoned to let us know they were on their way and arrived about 20 minutes later with 2 people -- a plumber and a helper. We already removed the tub, with the exception of the area by the plumbing. They removed the tub area by the plumbing, repositioned the plumbing and valve for the new tub, and installed the new tub. They were courteous. They had to removed a section of our drywall to get the tub in, yet it wasn't too much of an issue for us. As they were putting a board up on the wall to sit the tub on, I noticed they were not doing the end boards. When I asked, the plumber stated that they no longer do this. I mentioned it was in the manual and they dismissed my comment. When they were leveling the tub and getting ready to screw it into the wall, I mentioned the boards again, prior to it being a "point-of-no-return". Again, it was mentioned they don't do that anymore and it's not needed. I'm really hoping they are right, otherwise it will be a costly repair. They screwed one side of the tub in too tightly, so the "lip" is bent and as we are currently completing the tile work for it, that section is challenging since it does not line up with the cement board. Lastly, they did haul away our old tub, for a charge. Do not assume they will take your old building materials they are replacing away... you have to pay for that. When we received our bill in the mail, it was higher than expected, but not by that much -- maybe $60. It wasn't worth complaining about in the end. We had a coupon that dropped it down by $15, so we didn't say anything. In the end, we had 2 workers (plumber and a "helper") for 3 hours (this included their travel time to the job)."

"Xcellent came out and installed the new drains for our downspouts and sump pump. They cleaned up the yard and removed all the flags marking different systems that are in the yard. They are a very professional company and the prices were very reasonable!"

"They came out quickly and got the job done. I needed a new piece for the drain. They contacted Kohler for me to be sure the correct thing was ordered. The price was better than I'd paid plumbers who have come our previously."

"Very professional and efficient! Completed work that most other companies couldn't do. The price was very fair. I would certainly recommend these guys to anyone looking for underground storm drain work! Said another way, make sure these guys are given a chance to quote your job. You won't be disappointed."

"In all of the 24 years that we've lived in our home, our sump pump never kicked on. We just assumed that it was because it didn't have to because our property is on a hill, but it turns out that it was rusted solid. Also, the water pipes from the downspouts on the west side of the house to the street were clogged with soil and/or roots, and were not draining rain water underground to the street's gutter efficiently, so in a heavy downpour, the excess water was seeping through the concrete blocks of our foundation on that side of the house. Luckily, we discovered water on the floor in our basement before it got to be a major problem, and we scheduled a crew from Stay Dry Waterproofing to install a new sump pump and all new PVC pipes underground. They showed up on Monday morning as promised, and spent several hours tunneling under the mulch beds next to our house and down the hill, and then UNDER the sidewalk to the gutter. They did a good job by returning the top soil dirt back into the trench and the sod back in place. They did poke a small hole in the plastic window well cover with a shovel, but it's no big deal (we sealed it with duct tape, and big flowerpots will cover it in the summer). Joe Basham was very polite & friendly, and he and his crew did an excellent job!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.

If you hire a professional, installing a new sewage ejector pump costs $850 to $3,500, or an average of $2,300. Otherwise, if you handle the installation yourself, you can expect to pay $500 to $1,000 for the sewage ejector pump, permits, and other supplies required for this DIY project.

Standing water under your house can threaten its structural integrity. If water pools in your crawl space, it can damage the foundation and the structure above ground, causing wood rot, mold, and other problems. If you have a concrete foundation, standing water under your house can also make your foundation slabs crack.

Preventing future basement flooding often involves installing sump pumps, improving drainage, sealing foundation cracks, and maintaining gutters. Costs vary, but preventive measures can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the solutions chosen. Investing in prevention can save you money on future flooded basement cleanup costs and repairs.
