"The professionals of Krumlauf Floors were an answer to a prayer. I needed a tight timeframe turnaround on the installation of a hardware floor to provide a safer walking surface upon my husband's return from a Rehab Hospital. Krumlauf Floors came through in a way that was prompt, courteous, and proficient. I would recommend them and use them again."

"I emailed Stewart's floors from their website and they called me the next day to schedule an estimate. They came out the same day and provided me an estimate on the spot. It is a 4th generation, small, family owned and operated company. This was appealing to us and Jim was very kind and knowledgeable and I enjoyed speaking with him during the estimate. Once the remodeling was done in our home about 3 weeks later I emailed Stewart's to let them know we would be ready to start our floors in the next week or two and wanted to check on their schedule. I didn't hear back so I called a few days later. I spoke with Betty and she informed me that she would call me back the next day. I didn't hear from her so I called back again Wednesday and left a voicemail in the evening. Still no word until she called at the end of the week to say she was waiting to call me because they needed to see how the jobs panned out over the week to know when they could start. I totally understand that, but if you tell someone you're going to call them Tuesday you probably shouldn't wait until Friday. Even a call to say that they woudln't have an answer until Friday would've been great. I just assumed they were too busy and didn't want the work so I had to take my time to call and get an estimate from another company in the mean time when I didn't hear back all week. We selected a date for them to start and as promised they gave a 30 minute call ahead on a Monday before arriving at the house. Again, Josh and his crew were very knowledgeable and we enjoyed speaking with them. Josh even called me at the end of the day to check in and tell me how things went and when they'd be back. This blew me away- awesome customer service and something I hadn't experienced from a contractor before. I had to pause the process by one day on Friday because I had a scheduled appointment to get our ducts cleaned. This really seemed to mess things up and it added multiple days to the process. They were supposed to come back Saturday or Monday and I never heard back from them as to when they would return. Again, I called the office and couldn't get a clear answer for quite some time. They showed up Tuesday or Wednesday and started the rest of the floors. To be fair, we did add two additional rooms to the job, so I understand that adds extra time. Overall, the floors look great and the price was very competitive, but the communication efforts could really use some improvement. I would recommend Stewart's and was very satisfied with the overall finished product, but the process to get there was more painful than I would've liked. The delay ended up pushing back our move in date back by a week, which wasn't the end of the world, but was a hassle."

"Our bathtub was leaking and the floor was dipping. John the representative was wonderful to work with. In 2 weeks Matt the installer came out and removed our cast iron tub. He repaired the plumbing, put in a new subfloor and installed a walk in shower. He was a hard worker and answered any questions we had. Our bathroom looks beautiful! We are very happy. And there is a lifetime warranty!"

"Job was done right except for not estimating the amount of poly coating . The floor looks thin towards the end of the garage that was finished last. There are bubbles in the expansion cracks . Contacted contractor , took him about a week to read his emails . Expecting a phone call sometime this week to com out a fix bubbles ? Communication is slow . Otherwise floor turned out okay ."

"I had nature stone come to my home for a garage floor estimate.  Their price was more than double estimates from Rhino Flooring & Columbus Garage Floor Coating.  The product is beautiful but requires periodic re-sealing.  Re-sealing would require me to move everything out of my garage, which is not something I'm not interested in doing.
Estimator also committed a monumental error when he offered me a substantial discount if I would sign a contract that day, which is always a red flag.
Again, a beautiful product...but not the best for garages.  I felt the other two companies provided a better product at a better price.

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

In Marion, it’s important to know your home’s construction year, foundation type, and subfloor material before starting a flooring installation. Homes built before the 1960s may have uneven subfloors or hidden moisture issues from local clay soil. Pay attention to seasonal humidity swings, which can affect wood movement, and check for signs of past water intrusion, especially in basements or crawl spaces.

Helpful?

Flooring projects in Marion can become complex due to uneven subfloors, historic home layouts, or the presence of old adhesives that may contain asbestos. Foundation settling from local soil can create height differences between rooms, complicating transitions. Split-level homes often require careful planning for stairs and landings, while HVAC ductwork or existing radiant heat systems may need adjustments during installation.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Marion should prioritize addressing basement moisture with water-resistant flooring installation, such as tile or luxury vinyl plank. Next, inspect entryways for mud and salt exposure from Ohio winters, selecting durable surfaces for those areas. Evaluate existing hardwood for possible refinishing, and check bathrooms for subfloor damage, as older homes may hide leaks or mold beneath outdated flooring.

Helpful?

For Marion homes, consider oak, maple, or hickory hardwood for living areas due to their durability and stability in Ohio’s climate. In basements and bathrooms, luxury vinyl plank, ceramic tile, or engineered hardwood are excellent for moisture resistance. Choose underlayment designed for subfloor repair and sound control, and source materials rated for 40-60% humidity to ensure long-term performance.

Helpful?

In Marion, new flooring installation can impact HVAC airflow if floor register heights change, or affect plumbing if bathroom or basement floors are altered near drains and toilets. Electrical systems, like baseboard heaters or radiant floor wiring, may require modifications. If you notice sagging or soft spots, consult a structural professional before proceeding, as older homes may have hidden support issues.
