"When I was advised by my landscaper company that I had loose shingles on my roof, through a referral from a friend, I called Clancy Malone from Atlas Roof & Exteriors. Clancy reviewed my roof and advised me that I have some severe hail and wind damage. Upon notification to my Insurance Company, I was advised that my claim is justified. From that point Clancy advised me that his team could install a Lifetime Dimensional Shingles, that has the longest warranty in its class. The work was completed within 3 days and I cannot be happier with the courtesy and professionalism that Clancy and his crew afforded me. I would use or recommend this fine company to anyone needing professional roofing replacement ! Thank you again, Clancy Malone and The Atlas Roofing & Exteriors Company. Best, Larry R. Cutler"

"I had just bought a house and unfortunately the roof was in terrible shape and my house insurance would not insure me unless I had a new roof. I reached out to integrity roof and they were able to schedule my roof a week out and install it all in one day! I definitely recommend working with Shane he was a fantastic rep!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"Excellent full roof replacement work that exceeded my expectations. They addressed all my questions and concerns during the project, were very easy to work with, responsive, honest, hard working! Edwin, Dave, Marcus, Adrian were all excellent at addressing my unique ice dam issues to prevent those from happening ever, with addtional ice water guard I requested and custom adjustments improving existing chimney sages and valleys with much unproved saddles and waterproofing. Highly recommend them."

"Five or six years ago I had Bone Dry repair a roof that was leaking. The repair person determined where the leak was, and told me what the cost would be for the repair. Because it was under $500, I did not bother getting any other estimates. We scheduled the repair for later that week. He arrived when he had said, completed the work quickly, cleaned up so you couldnâ t tell anything was ever done and we never had another problem. Fast forward to September 2019. I noticed a leak in our living room ceiling and immediately called Bone Dry and two additional highly rated companies. Realizing the age of the roof, I assumed it was close to the end of itâ s useful life. Although I had all three companies bid on the exact same materials and work, Zach from Bone Dry came in $200 less than the next higher quote and $2,000 less than the highest quote. Based on my prior experience, the urgency that Zach understood I was feeling and the price he presented, it was an easy choice for me to make. A few days before the job was scheduled to begin, Zach explained everything I should expect, from the delivery of the materials, to the cleanup and walk around inspection. He even sent me a text the night before with a photo of Seth, who would be the jobs supervisor. From the very beginning of the job, Seth communicated with me and kept me apprized with their progress. He texted pictures on a regular basis to the point that my questions were answered before I could ask them. The crew worked dawn til dark for three straight days and the new roof looks fabulous. After our homes and cars, the new roof is the third most expensive purchase weâ ve ever made. I feel totally confident that it will be protecting this house long after weâ re gone. And we plan to be here for many years."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

Technically, a flat roof can be raised, but it’s extremely expensive, and there would not be much of a point. Most homeowners raise the roof in their homes to access the space between their existing ceiling and the roof, but flat roofs don’t have this space. Therefore, you can raise a flat roof, but it involves heavy structural modification.

Before hiring a roofing contractor, it's wise to ask several key questions. Inquire if they are licensed for roof replacement and repair and if they hold any special certifications. Ask if they will be completing all the work themselves or subcontracting parts of it. It's also important to understand the project timeline, whether they will remove the old roof or place new shingles on top, and how they will handle cleanup after the project is complete. Finally, ask about warranties for both work and materials, what recourse you have if issues like leaks arise, and if they can provide customer references.

The four types of roof sheathing are plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), planks, and tone-and-groove boards. The overwhelming majority of homes use the first two (especially OSB) and the other two are not often seen outside of special use cases. Methods of sheathing include solid sheathing, open sheathing where there are gaps, and plank sheathing. Most roofs are solid sheathing.
