"Prompt and courtious service. Had NEMA 14-50 and 5-20 circuits ran from panel to garage for an EV charger and an extra outlet. Very accommodating when I asked for an outlet with a cover for the 220V outlet."

"I estimate I have just under $100k in electronics and appliances in my house. We have significant lightning storms in my location. To NOT have lightning suppression installed is significant risk in my mind based on my location in New Jersey. RS LIGHTNING PROTECTION was responsive with a quick cost estimate and a reasonable price based on my research for installation. By the way...installation is part art, such as bends in cable are not more than 90 degrees. It's not just about running grounded cables. This installation in conjunction with surge protection on my electrical panel performed by my electrician and cable protection gives me significant piece of mind that all my appliances and electronics are protected from lightning and any potential surge generated by a near strike. Mr Richard Sherlock knows his subject. Highly recommended. Five stars."

Customers say: Quality work

"They came out initially and did an excellent job in the first few two days. But then started to have delays in the project because the contractors kept changing. When the job was done, I was left with many holes in the walls and had to hire a separate contractor to repair that. Also, I have one outlet now that does not have enough current to run a vacuum, when called to have them correct this, they never returned the voice-mails. Still have not heard from them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When comparing quotes from electrical contractors in Marion, be wary of unusually low bids, unclear project details, or contractors who rush you to commit. If a quote doesn’t mention necessary permits or skips details about home wiring upgrades—especially for older homes—proceed with caution. Avoid anyone demanding large cash payments upfront or refusing to provide references from other Marion homeowners.

Helpful?

In Marion, you can safely replace a light switch or outlet if you turn off the power at the breaker and confirm with a voltage tester. Always work with dry hands and use insulated tools. If you encounter outdated knob-and-tube wiring or aluminum wiring—often found in Marion homes—or need to access the electrical panel, stop and contact a licensed electrical contractor.

Helpful?

To improve electrical safety for families in Marion, install tamper-resistant outlets and GFCI protection in play areas and bathrooms. Use outlet covers and secure cords to prevent tripping or chewing hazards for pets. Consider raising outlets in pet zones and adding cabinet locks to restrict panel access. Good lighting and motion sensors in high-traffic areas also enhance home safety for everyone.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Marion, select THWN-2 or similar wire rated for temperature changes, and choose weather-resistant outlets and covers for outdoor use. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and exterior areas to meet local electrical safety codes. AFCI breakers are ideal for bedrooms, and surge protectors help protect home wiring from frequent storms common in Marion.

Helpful?

In Marion, older homes often need electrical panel upgrades, replacement of outdated knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring, and updates to ungrounded outlets. Outdoor receptacles and basement wiring are prone to wear from Ohio’s moisture and temperature swings. Kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms may require new circuits or GFCI/AFCI protection, while sump pump and HVAC wiring often need periodic inspection.
