Customers say: Quality work

"Our water pressure suddenly dropped. We called Bapst at 8:30 a.m. The technician's arrived around 10:30 a.m. and worked approximately 3 hours to diagnose and fix the problem by replacing the well pump and pressure tank. This is an amazing response time. The technicians were very courteous, knowledgeable and skillful, and answered all questions we had. After they were gone I did some searching online and discovered the materials cost about $1400. Online sources say it costs $800-$2300 in 2020 to replace a well pump and pressure tank together, so we may have been able to find a lower price. They charged $125 for an evaluation. This was applied to the cost since we had them perform the work. We paid $2600. We chose not to call another company for an estimate, because we really couldn't use our water in its current state, and it was awesome to have running water again in half of a day. If you have the luxury of time, get another estimate."

"Martin went above and beyond expectations! After installing a new sump pump I decided I wanted a battery back-up system. Martin came back out and installed the back-up system and did not charge me for installation. Now that's a company that does not take advantage of customers!! He could have charged me for the labor but he didn't. He's restored my faith in professional plumbers! I'd recommend him in a heartbeat!"

"I had OBA install outdoor french drains and new downspouts a couple of years before they waterproofed my basement. They were the only company I could find who did it all. Basement waterproofing included removing old, putting in new: full inside perimeter drainage, enlarge sump pit, 2 sump pumps, I-beams and carbon fiber straps. Added in brand new: battery backup for sump and vapor barrier on most affected wall. When my basement got wet a year later after the work was done, they didn't hesitate to schedule someone to inspect. If was heavy condensation, barely a thin puddle compared to 2 inches of flowing water. They had to rework a 6 ft section and add cement around the I-beams, each on their own call outs. They didn't charge because I have a lifetime warranty, transferable to the next owner. I'll be working with them again soon for a professional level dehumidifier."

"We called Mr. Rooter to look at our water heater which had some corroded connections and small leaks. Dan from Mr. Rooter was very professional. He clearly went over the options and pricing for replacing the valves vs a new hot water tank vs a tankless system. There was zero pressure from the technician, he simply went over the pros and cons of each option and let us decide, and then quickly went about installing the new system. I couldn’t be happier."

"Excellent. We had other projects we wanted done, but they explained to us that installation of these fixtures (and a new outlet) would involved drywall being cut and they wanted us to know this before starting.  We decided this wasn't worth doing.
They arrived for the estimate a few minutes early, and arrived the day to work right on time. Matt did the installation, and he was professional, courteous, neat and clean. He was only there 1/2  a day.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

Yes, many providers offer warranties for new pumps and labor. Confirm terms before scheduling.

Yes, a well-maintained sump pump can increase a home's value and make it more desirable to potential buyers; it does not lower property value. By protecting the basement from flooding and water damage, a sump pump provides peace of mind and can make the space usable for storage or as an extra room. For buyers interested in homes with basements, a working sump pump is a significant feature that adds value by ensuring the space is secure and less likely to flood.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.
