Customers say: Quality work

"Our water pressure suddenly dropped. We called Bapst at 8:30 a.m. The technician's arrived around 10:30 a.m. and worked approximately 3 hours to diagnose and fix the problem by replacing the well pump and pressure tank. This is an amazing response time. The technicians were very courteous, knowledgeable and skillful, and answered all questions we had. After they were gone I did some searching online and discovered the materials cost about $1400. Online sources say it costs $800-$2300 in 2020 to replace a well pump and pressure tank together, so we may have been able to find a lower price. They charged $125 for an evaluation. This was applied to the cost since we had them perform the work. We paid $2600. We chose not to call another company for an estimate, because we really couldn't use our water in its current state, and it was awesome to have running water again in half of a day. "I had OBA install outdoor french drains and new downspouts a couple of years before they waterproofed my basement. They were the only company I could find who did it all. Basement waterproofing included removing old, putting in new: full inside perimeter drainage, enlarge sump pit, 2 sump pumps, I-beams and carbon fiber straps. Added in brand new: battery backup for sump and vapor barrier on most affected wall. When my basement got wet a year later after the work was done, they didn't hesitate to schedule someone to inspect. If was heavy condensation, barely a thin puddle compared to 2 inches of flowing water. They had to rework a 6 ft section and add cement around the I-beams, each on their own call outs. They didn't charge because I have a lifetime warranty, transferable to the next owner. I'll be working with them again soon for a professional level dehumidifier."

"Couldn't be happier with the prompt service we received from the guys at Mr Rooter!  The drain pipe from our sump to the street was so clogged that we wound up with lots of water in our basement from an overnight rainstorm.  Our window for service was 2-4pm and they were there by 2:30.   They were very thorough and explained everything they were doing!

"Craig Desrosiers with Safe Electric did fantastic work for me right before Christmas. I liked how he arrived on the dot on time. I was so pleased with his work in fact, that I hired Craig a second time today, 12/27 for an additional several hours to install more Lutron Caseta radio dimmer switches for our home and landscape lighting control, which I love. He also installed new duplex outlets that were expertly cut and fished with no holes for me to patch and paint -what a relief and huge convenience to me. This was a very challenging job, especially since they were undoing improperly completed work previously done by a less experienced and unreliable electrician that I foolishly hired as side work (don't ever do that like I did a month ago, because you do NOT get what you think you paid for). Spend the money, hire a recommended licensed, experienced, and honest electrician. He tirelessly trouble shot and traced extensive track lighting fixtures throughout our mid century modern home. It helped to have all items purchased and ready for him to install. The few things I didn't have, he easily had ready to install from his work van. He was definitely prepared. Craig didn't cut any corners, he charged me a fair hourly rate, and most important: everything was done this time perfectly and safely. I feel strongly that when resale time should ever come around in the future years from now, I won't have any further issues or questions from a buyer's pesky home inspector, thanks to his job done right. 'Wish I'd called him first! I now have his cell number saved in my phone, and will gladly pass it on to anyone who asks me in passing if I know of a good electrician I can recommend. Call Craig first! He's the Lutron master pro, and he's been a licensed electrician for over 30 years...and his experience and professionalism shines bright and safe in my home, that's for sure."

"Fast and efficient service. I was a little stunned by the cost, but we had been without water because of the spraying faucet and were just thankful they got to us almost immediately. Plumber was very courteous and professional, explaining everything that would have to be done and the increase in cost due to missing parts."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair a sump pump ranges from $400 to $550, depending on the extent of the repair and your location. Minor repairs, like fixing a switch or replacing a float, can cost just a few hundred dollars. However, more significant issues, such as motor replacement or addressing electrical problems, may cost closer to $550. Keep in mind that regular maintenance can help prevent costly repairs, and if a sump pump is beyond repair, a full system replacement ranges between $650 and $1,400.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

When a backflow valve fails, wastewater will flow back into your system, contaminating your drinking water. You’ll immediately notice backflow valve failure from a rotten smell and brown water coming from faucets. Get in contact with a septic pro or a plumber immediately if you suspect this has happened to you.

In most cases, standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage from a sump pump failure or overflow. Coverage for water damage is often limited to sudden, unexpected events like a burst pipe that was not caused by negligence. To be covered for sump pump issues, you will likely need to purchase a specific rider, endorsement, or additional water backup insurance. If your insurer offers this type of coverage, they may require proof that your sump pump is regularly maintained.
