"Great company to work with. Their sub-contractors (e.g., plumber, electrician, tile installers, shower door craftspeople, etc.) were excellent. They worked well with our designer and with suppliers of materials. They followed plans. Minor and typical hiccups handled professionally and expeditiously. Scott and Paul are easy to work with. They are respectful and listen well. Good communicators. Protected the areas of the house they were not working in. They were able to work with higher end materials. Have recommended to others."

"This was my second time using CNM for a renovation and both times it was a 5 star experience. I first used them in 2016 for a kitchen and bathroom reno in a small co-op apartment. Because of that positive experience, I asked Matt and the team to do a complete house gut reno in 2022-23. Before I finalized purchase of my house, I first had Matt come by to give me a scope and estimate. This was a big job that lasted over a year during which time we were living in the house. All of the workers are highly skilled, responsible, communicative, attentive, and a pleasure to work with. They expertly handled all aspects of the renovation- electrical, plumbing, tiling, framing, etc. I feel so lucky to have found CNM and would hire them again in an instant."

Small jobs welcome

"I am absolutely thrilled with the work that Perna contracting has done. I recently bought my first apartment in NYC and it underwent an extensive renovation. Jason and team couldn't have been better. Workmanship and customer service were excellent. Jason was always responsive, professional, punctual, incredibly knowledgable, and upfront and clear regarding payment and payment options. I recommend Perna Contracting wholeheartedly, you won't be disappointed. I will continue to use them again and again."

"My apartment is located on upper east side of Manhattan, the renovation is very complicated with a lot of regulations and I am very picky person with perfection mentality. My contractor is David who is very cool guy, He has done amazing job in the short time with low price that makes me very happy. I am a designer that I have my style set but he has done exactly what I like which impressed me completely. Even after service, he has always tried to help us with anything we need with no condition. We are very lucky to found a great contractor like him with Worry free. I am highly recommended him with pleasure."

"Nunez construction was extremely professional and reliable. I've hired them for painting and other cosmetic repairs on several occasions and was always pleased with the results. They work faster than many other GCs. I would recommend to anyone looking for a home refresh"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Dark academia is more of an interior decorating style than it is a type of architecture, but it calls on themes prevalent in gothic architecture. Part of the appeal of dark academia is that you can achieve the look and feel without renovating or remodeling your home. Instead, you can switch to a dark color palette and introduce metal, natural wood furniture, plaid decor, old books, and gothic decor to get the look and feel just right.

Universal design costs can be minimal when you add them during construction; however, adding universal design principles to existing homes can sometimes increase renovation costs. For example, a mid-grade bathroom remodel is estimated to cost around $30,000, while a standard universal design remodel can cost closer to $40,000. Adding accessible design components can include widening hallways ($500 to $2,000), curbless showers ($2,000 to $8,000), and widening doors ($400 to $800). Keep in mind that these increased costs can lead to higher resale values because universal homes may appeal to a wider variety of buyers.

You can draw your own house plans using three-dimensional modeling software, but in most cases, you’ll need an architect to draw up the final plans. Architects understand local building regulations and requirements, so their plans will be necessary for getting permits approved, and they’ll also ensure your home is structurally sound. DIY house plans can be a good place to start to help visualize your project, but you should always defer to a professional before trying to proceed with the project.

Hiring a contractor with knowledge about historic renovations and reviewing their previous work is important. You can find a historic home renovation contractor by calling your local historic preservation office, historical society, or any local historic museums nearby. The staff may have suggestions for specialized contractors who have worked for them. You can also ask them about historic home restorations that you have seen and liked in your area to get recommendations for pros.

Dekton is worth the money for homeowners who want a nonporous countertop that resists heat, stains, water, scratches, and UV damage. It comes in a wide array of colors and patterns at various price points to suit different renovation budgets. Dekton is not worth the cost for homeowners who are particularly worried about chipping or cracking.
