"I highly recommend Javier and Powerick Electric. He took the time to ask questions about my needs and wants before he bid on the job, such that he delivered a high quality solution. I am very happy with the completed work. Scheduling with him was easy and he was very flexible and prompt. When doing the work, he took the time to do it right and not rushed at all. I would -absolutely- hire Javier again, he was an honest, fair, and reliable contractor."

"Mike was very responsive and reasonably priced. He installed a 220V line and an EV charger in my garage. A 65ft long line needed to be run on our flat roof from the electrical panel. Very neat, very professional. Work was superior to previous work we've had performed by other electricians. I'll be sure to use him again should I need more electrical work at my residence."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a 3/0 AWG wire for a 200 amp service, but only if it is made of copper, as 3/0 copper wire has an allowable ampacity of 225 amps. If you are using aluminum or aluminum copper-clad wire, you need to use at least 4/0 AWG.

If a 240V appliance is connected to a 120V outlet, the lower voltage will cause that appliance to receive insufficient power. This may result in reduced performance, malfunctions, or even damage to the appliance's components. Depending on the size of your electrical circuit, you’ll likely need to reset a tripped circuit breaker at the very least.

Even if you don’t have children living in your home, The National Fire Prevention Association still recommends installing tamper-resistant outlets when you’re replacing your existing outlets.

Not only is your home likely to change hands at some point, but you may have young children over as guests. Making the switch even if you don’t currently have children living with you at the moment will help protect any future pint-sized visitors to your home.

In general, 200 amps is enough for a house with a square footage of up to 1,800, or the average three-bedroom home. A 200-amp service allows your home to warm and cool itself while running multiple appliances at once. It's a good option for homes that have been extended, or after adding new appliances. 200-amp service is the current standard for homes, so in most cases, it will work for you.

Yes, pool pumps use a significant amount of electricity, making them one of the biggest energy consumers in a home. A pool pump can use up to three times as much electricity as a refrigerator. Typically, a residential pool pump consumes about 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every hour it runs. Because pumps often need to run for about eight hours a day to properly filter the water, this can add up to an annual consumption of 3,000 to 5,000 kWh, which can cost between $480 and $800 per year based on average electricity rates.

The amount of electricity your pump uses depends on its size, energy efficiency, and daily run time. To lower your energy consumption, you can choose an energy-efficient or variable-speed pump, ensure it is correctly sized for your pool, and run it only for the minimum time required to keep the water clean.
