"I used Angie's List to look for a plumber and was quite apprehensive based on reading so many negative reviews about how many dishonest plumbers are in Albuquerque. Albuquerque Plumbing, Heating & Cooling called and left a message for me and I called this morning. My toilet wasn't draining, after repeating plunging. Fore Gen Plumbing called and told me their starting price is $129 and I wouldn't find a lower price. They were wrong. Albuquerque Plumbing, Heating & Cooling quoted me $75 for auger service, from the toilet side. The auger didn't work, so the plumber offered $105 drain cleanout service. When the clog was cleared in 5 minutes, he told me the $105 included a 90-day warranty, free reservice if I have any more clogs, leaks, issues. Corey did an outstanding job, very impressed with his professionalism, courtesy, honesty and integrity. Not only did he call ahead, arrived early, he wore a mask and shoe covers."

"Tyler came out to investigate the issues and readily found the problem. Work was scheduled for the following week. Tyler and Santori came out to do the work, they rescoped from the roof to pinpoint the exact location before cutting into the wall. They were able to fix the broken vent pipe, and it looks like a great job done. I’m only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I asked if they could snake a slow draining tub, which they did in less than 5 minutes, then the bill came and they wanted $165 for the drain in addition to the other work. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. So , I told him how much I’d pay for that, and he agreed. I can understand $165 for snaking a drain if it’s a single service call, but let’s be realistic about things if you’re already there for another job that’s $400. I recommend that you give your customers clear up front estimates/costs and options."

"José from HP Hernandez plumbing did an exceptional job from installing sanitary sewer lines, water lines and finally the trim out. I’ve I went through a couple of contractors and finally was able to find the right company for the job. He was very quick with proving an estimate and he showed up to the jobsite every time he scheduled an install. The project was big however, Jose was able to complete it and pass the inspection."

"Arrived on time, and repaired the leaking pipe under my kitchen sink. He's personable, and easy to talk to. Randy didn't talk down to me, he explained everything that was wrong and what needed to be done to fix it. When he was finished he made sure all areas around where he worked was cleaned up before he left. When I have more plumbing problems I will be calling Randy again, I highly recommend him!!!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Coke and other sodas do clean a clogged drain, so this is one of those urban myths that has some truth behind it. Coke and similar sodas are caustic and will provide some cleaning power to your drains. However, the power of soda pales in comparison to dedicated cleaners or even baking soda.

You can often unclog a garbage disposal in less than 10 minutes, though sometimes you might need longer if you’re unsure what’s causing the clog. For minor clogs, consider plunging the drain, flushing the drain with baking soda and vinegar, or using an Allen wrench to free the clog. If the clog is more severe, contact a local plumber.

Septic tanks can clog if they aren’t pumped every few years since solid waste accumulates inside of them. Your tank might also clog if you have a habit of flushing anything other than human waste or toilet paper. Items like diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, cat litter, and personal hygiene products should never go down your pipes.

If your kitchen is flooding, first turn off the water supply and electricity before entering the room. Next, focus on immediate flood control by cleaning up any standing water with a sump pump or wet-dry vacuum to prevent long-term water damage to your home. Open your windows and run any dehumidifiers you have handy. Finally, call a professional plumber to help find the source of the flood and repair it.

You’ll need to stop or pause the machine using its control panel to start the draining process mid-cycle. Remove the items inside, turn off the power to the machine, and then follow the steps above to drain the machine manually.
