"D&L did an excellent job replacing my well pump. They were hired after the first co I hired could not do the job. The removal of the pump required ingenuity and hard work and took several days by James and his crew. The new pump was installed quickly and efficiently. They were courteous, friendly and great to work with. I would certainly use them again"

"I had a great experience with this company installing my new boiler. Their pricing was fair compared to other estimates I received. Dave walked me through the entire process and answered all my questions, and his team came in and did a great job with the installation. With so many scammers out there, I truly felt comfortable working with this company and will absolutely use them again in the future."

"Dave at DM Solutions was great! A flooded basement knocked out my boiler. With sub-freezing temps on the way, I was anxious about getting heat back on in the house as quickly as possible. Dave got back to me right away--much faster than any of the of the other Home Advisor-recommended contractors--and he was onsite within 2 hours of communicating with me. He quickly diagnosed the problems with the boiler, helped me get the house prepare the house for a period of cold weather while I worked with my insurance company, then when my ins company gave the go ahead, he fixed everything post haste. Excellent experience."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.

Submersible and pedestal sump pumps are two popular types of sump pumps. Submersible models are covered by water in a sump pit, which helps keep the motor cooler and quieter. Pedestal sump pumps stick out of the sump pit, so the motor stays dry and is easier to access. Submersible sump pumps are the pricier option, but they also have longer life spans.

Every three to four months, you should clean any dirt and debris off of your sump pump. You should also check the inlet screen (at the bottom of the pump) to make sure that it isn’t blocked. On top of that, you should deep clean your sump pump once per year—or hire a sump pump pro to do it for you.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.

Several indicators suggest it's time for a sump pump replacement. A key factor is age; if the pump is over 10 years old, its lifespan is likely ending. Performance issues are also clear signs, such as the pump running constantly, cycling on and off frequently, making unusual noises or vibrations, or failing to function at all. A faulty or burnt-out motor is another definite sign a replacement is needed. Additionally, if you notice any signs of incorrect installation, the pump should be replaced. For a definitive diagnosis, a vetted plumber can assess the pump and confirm whether a replacement is necessary.
