"We had previously hired Paz Painting to remove popcorn from the ceilings in 2 rooms and hired his crew again to do the same in our dining and living rooms, an entryway and the upstairs stairwell ceiling. They also painted several rooms. They did a great job in both regards and did a nice job of cleaning up when done. Narciso is easy to work with and I would definitely hire his company again."

"Cruz Home Painting did an outstanding job painting the entire interior of our home. Jesus came out the same day I contacted him to give me a quote. The price was very fair and the job was completed earlier than our original time line. The house was prepped throughout as not to get any paint on my wood floors, tile, or carpet. The cleanup was even better as I couldn't tell that work was done in the house. This company is very fair with their pricing and the end results are fabulous. Can't go wrong with this company!!!"

"Company was very responsive and easy to deal with. I had a privacy fence stained. They masked off the house and driveway to avoid over spray then applied the stain with two coats. The two gentlemen who did the job were great and worked very **** ** a very hot day. Fence looks great. I would definitely use five star painting again."

"Over the course of the last year Grady Jones Paint has worked for me on (3) different occasions to repaint our home interior. The scope of work included scraping the popcorn ceilings, flattening them and then repainting them; repainting all of the walls; painting our cabinetry; and, finally, staining the exposed woodwork on our deck. Clee was very responsive and visited the project every time his workers were on site. Tim and Eddie made up the crew who did the work. They were amicable, professional, courteous and did a GREAT job. I plan to use Grady Jones Paint for any future work and recommend them to anyone in need of a paint contractor."

"We have been very pleased to find All-Pro Painting, Cary NC for the painting of our home.

From first contact, Justin returned our calls promptly or texted if that was not possible.  We appreciated his willingness to meet with us as quickly as possible for an estimate (including a second one after we had additional thoughts) and likewise sought to accommodate our somewhat tight scheduling needs.  Justin's upbeat personality made it easy to ask questions, express concerns and ultimately feel confident in our choices.

The men that actually painted the house were friendly and their work was professional, organized and efficient.   Our job started within the window originally planned ( again, Justin kept us well informed through clear communication), and the men worked  to finish on time, leaving the house clean and good condition, replacing blinds, etc that they had removed for the painting.

I feel confident in recommending All-Pro Painting, Cary NC to others and to having them return to my home if needed.

"We’ve used International Painting several times over the years and they always deliver excellent, high quality results on time and on budget. Last week they power washed our house, deck, and driveway; painted the foundation; stained the deck; resealed the driveway; and repainted front entrance. We’re delighted that our 30-year old home looks brand new! Fermin and his team are prompt, polite, and professional. Fermin shared his insurance without asking and the team cleaned up every day. We’re extremely happy and will use International Painting again in the future for some interior work."

Painting questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to make a wooden fence more visually appealing and keep it that way for years to come.

  • Treat the fence with a wood sealant to protect it against the elements. It’s recommended to reseal a fence every two to three years, but if you live in a harsh climate, you may want to do it more frequently than that.

  • Restore the fence if it’s old, corroding, or fading. That includes cleaning it and making small repairs where needed.

  • Paint the fence in a color that you like, whether that’s a simple white or more vibrant option. Fences usually need to be repainted every one to three years.

  • Decorate the fence with planters, string lights, birdhouses, mirrors, shutters, and more.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.
