"These guys go above and beyond to make sure the job is done right ! This is a 180yr old historical house and was in desperate need of repair and painting due to the last company that didnt do a proper paint job . They scraped and caulked and repaired all the rotted wood and the results are what you expect of a top notch painting company ! I would highly recomend them . Scrape softened caulk with a putty knife or slice hardened caulk with a utility knife. Hard-to-remove caulk generally requires more time exposed to a softening solution, like a commercial product or rubbing alcohol. A few hours to a day later, the softened caulk will come off with the help of common household tools. In many cases, you can grab needle-nosed pliers for caulk with multiple old layers and pull the material off its base. 

WD-40 can help remove paint on wood floors, but use it cautiously. Start with a small amount and let it sit for a few minutes, then gently scrape the paint off using a plastic (not metal) scraper. You may want to test it first on a hidden area to ensure it doesn't damage the finish. Professional products specifically designed for hardwood may be a better choice for large or stubborn paint spots.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

The good news is that penetrating sealant doesn’t have to be removed before resealing, as most topical sealers must. Linoleum adhesive is quite stubborn, so you may have to try several different methods for removal. You can start with a wallpaper steamer and steam it off or add laundry detergent to water and let it soak into the adhesive. You can try paint thinner directly on the adhesive for about 10 minutes and then wipe away.
