"In Aug./Sep. 2019, Rogers Masonry did a tear-down of our decrepit stuccoed chimney, followed by a beautiful brick re-build. The project posed some every unique challenges that Roger handled with a high level of professionalism and diligence. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in all chimney-related matters and provided almost-daily progress reports to document the work his crew was performing. His communication was exemplary, and he was responsive to our questions/concerns, all of which he promptly addressed. We were especially appreciative of the many pictures of the ongoing work that Roger provided throughout the project. We have already had the opportunity to make a referral for Roger and hope to work with him on another chimney project in 2020."

"They tuck pointed and repaired brick steps. The price they charged was less than half of the other estimate we received. ( That is not an exaggeration.) The work was excellent and performed on a timely and efficient basis. They promptly returned calls and otherwise communicated with us on a timely basis. We plan on using them for all brick and masonry projects."

Customers say: True professional

"Excellent service by a team of professionals. Our foundation needed repair and it was done quickly and efficiently. The crew of Chase, Logan and John worked non-stop until the job was done. We liked the work so much that we had an additional chimney repair done while they were on-site. Very happy with the results. I would hire Absolute Masonry again if I need masonry work in the future."

"I picked Artistic Landscape by reviewing Angie's List for Landscaping providers. I had identified five companies that I was interested in, with Artistic Landscape being my first choice. I ended up only contacting Artistic Landscape.  I was looking for a small company who would be able to provide design work and the installation services. Chris Baker (owner) came over four about an hour and listened to what we were looking for.  Instead of sending us a quote, he came back two weeks later with a CAD drawing and presented us a design for our review. We discussed different stone (for the sitting wall) and different pavers for the patio/sidewalk.  We had the option to change things up if we wanted to.  After choosing Artistic Landscape, Chris came back again to show us actual samples of stone and pavers to finalize our design.
The implementation went smoothly. It took them about 4.5 days to get the work done.  Chris had two guys doing landscaping and two guys doing pavers and stone walls. Chris was also here most of the time working with them as well.  In addition, Chris had my six year old in the bobcat (technically a compact track loader) for 10 minutes while he was loading up the dump truck on the second day.
Chris was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.  We would gladly use him again and recommend him to friends/neighbors.

Customers say: Quality work

"The company owner, Tony Kasbohm gave us a very reasonable estimate and made a couple of suggestions for improving the job that we had not even considered. A couple of ideas were things like adding a gutter drain and placing some small boulders at the base of the slope of the sidewalk. The estimate was given in early August and he told us he was pretty busy and wouldn't be able to get to our project until early Sept. On Sept. 4th, Tony called and said he'd be ready to start our project the next day around midday on Thursday. He showed up with his two man crew and they started removing the old sidewalk and cutting the driveway for the apron. They completed all that work that afternoon. On Friday they returned and poured the concrete for the apron, the cap for our front step and started the forms for the new sidewalk. Tony said he wanted to get the apron done so we would be able to drive over sooner. Very considerate! The following Monday Tony and his crew returned to finish the sidewalk. They came by 7:00 AM and had the sidewalk completed by about 1:00 PM. If you are looking for someone to do your project at a reasonable price, in a professional manner and are most considerate and pleasant to work with, you need look no further.

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The best color to paint a brick fireplace comes down to personal taste. However, neutral colors—like white or gray—will open the space and create a bright modern look, making them popular options. However, choosing a bold color can turn your fireplace into a feature piece that will be the talk of all family gatherings.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.

Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

When it comes to how to paint a brick chimney, consider that standard paint can seal in moisture and cause serious chimney problems. Instead, use a vapor-permeable sealant. You’ll first scrub and sand the chimney; then, you can patch any gaps with caulk and apply the sealant. We recommend hiring a pro for this job since it entails working on the roof, which comes with a lot of necessary safety precautions.

You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. For holes with a diameter of 3/16-inch or less, a regular drill with a masonry bit can do the job. However, the bit will heat up quickly, and the process will take significantly longer than with a hammer drill. Prepare to cool your drill bit down in a bucket of water more often.
