We had Roger and several other masonry contractors out in the spring to give bids on the above described work, and were surprised by how high all the quotes were, so we decided to hold off doing the work until later in the year. While Rogers Masonry was not the lowest of the bids, it was competitive. But what really made Roger stand out over the several months between bidding and hiring was his clear knowledge about, and genuine passion for, the work that he does (he's been in the business since 1976 and his lead crew member has been with him for 20 years!). But even more impressive was Roger and team's vast experience working on grand homes throughout the historic Cathedral Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul, and the fact that they actually enjoy working on these older homes?a quality that's increasingly difficult to find in contractors anymore. "It went really well. Al and Corey are both fantastic to work with. I moved into a house where the yard was in rough shape. I talked to several different landscaping companies and decided on Goodfellows after the initial meeting. Al had such great suggestions for tweaking the design and thinking about the project, that I knew I would regret it if I chose someone else. The customer service is really good. Many contractors I have worked with are almost impossible to get answers from, but Al was always on top of everything I asked. The install team worked very hard and took great care when working close to the house to ensure nothing was damaged. "We are very happy with our new retaining wall and concrete steps! Tom and his crew persevered through many challenges to fill a giant hole that was more serious than anyone had realized! They built a beautiful new retaining wall and poured concrete steps. They created an underground drainage system that will prevent future problems with water erosion. We had formerly worked with a different business to repair the hole but their efforts were not successful over time. We wish we had called Tom first. We have received numerous compliments from neighbors and people passing by on our new, improved front yard steps and wall. Even the mailman was impressed!"

"Robert has consistently provided exceptional service.  I first hired him because he was the only one who quickly recognized the unique bricks needed for the repair I requested, and he did such an amazing job with the repair that we did not paint over his work (which makes this the only unpainted brickwork in our home's exterior).  I subsequently hired him to repair the exposed areas of our limestone foundation, which had decayed considerably over the decades.  Again, he did a great job.  After doing this, he suggested some maintenance to my exterior which I would not have even noticed.  I waited a year before having him do it, but now realize how much work needed to be done and appreciate his service.
I am fairly meticulous and reluctant to endorse somebody, but I would strongly recommend Robert for masonry work.  In addition to his exceptional service, he is a really good guy!
