"Richard was first class when it came to professionalism. He was very nice and personable. Me end my wife were pleased with the quick turnaround with the inspection and testing he gave. Richard gave us sound advice and helped us out when it came to a decision on buying our first home. We trusted what he told us, and he kept it real with us. We appreciated that a lot. I would recommend him and I will use him on future home investment properties."

Small jobs welcome

"We wanted to replace our gas water heater and we suspected asbestos in the gas water heater vetting duct. Shaylee was super responsive and was able to come the next day. She did a thorough job inspecting the vetting duct for asbestos in the main floor where the water heater locates as well as the attic. She took samples to test and provided the results on the next day. I would definitely recommend Eco Shaylee, LLC to anyone that is looking for great service."

"Buck, the owner, was very thorough in inspecting our roof for hail damage. He was honest and said their was no damage. We had been approached by several storm chasing roof contractors telling us we had storm damage but we were skeptical and called Eagle Siding for an honest assessment. While Buck was on the roof, he noticed our rusty vent stack and painted it! No charge! It looks so nice and when the time comes to replace our roof as it ages, we will definitely call Buck and Eagle Siding!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

You can look at the duct damper’s lever to see if it’s open or closed. If the lever is parallel to the duct, the damper is open. If it’s perpendicular, the damper is closed. Alternatively, you can hold your hand against vents throughout your home. If you feel air coming out, that damper is partially or fully open. No airflow likely means that the damper is closed.

Waiving a home inspection could be beneficial if you’re buying a home in a hot location where the seller has many other offers to consider, especially if other buyers are willing to waive the inspection. However, it’s not usually a good idea to waive an inspection, even on new construction. Inspections can identify problems that could cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, so a formal inspection is always worthwhile. If you’re having a new home built, a pre-drywall inspection is often the most valuable, but a final inspection before you close is also a good idea.

Home inspections can reveal many different issues that could end up costing buyers thousands of dollars or more post-closing to rectify, so what a buyer is willing to pay for a home largely depends on the findings of the home inspection. Major issues like foundation damage or structural problems could significantly bring down the selling price. A “clean” home inspection that reveals no issues may make the home more enticing to buyers, potentially raising the selling price.

Having cobwebs in your home indicates you may have an issue with spiders entering your property. While spiders are mostly harmless, some venomous bites can cause human problems, such as a brown recluse or black widow. Regular vacuuming and dusting, keeping clutter to a minimum, and keeping your lawn trimmed and tidy are a few natural ways to keep spiders out of your home and remove the temptations that attract spiders.

It is generally not safe to live in a house with smoke damage, as even minor damage can pose long-term health hazards and structural risks. While it might seem safe temporarily depending on the severity, you should relocate if there is major damage or visible soot. Smoke smells and residue contain dangerous particulates and chemical compounds, including carcinogens, that are hazardous to breathe and can cause respiratory issues. These signs of damage are not always visible but can have dangerous short-term and long-term effects on your health, belongings, and your home's structural materials. You should not stay in the house until a trained professional from a smoke remediation or restoration company has assessed the damage and determined it is safe to return. Your insurance company may cover the cost of alternative housing while the professional work is completed.
