They did a great job, and we have plans to redo a bathroom. I will totally hire those guys to do the electrical. They were just as helpful, friendly, and nice as you could ever want. It was wonderful. They're helpful, and they're willing to make sure everything is perfect. I just thought they were efficient, helpful, they were professional and they knew what they were doing.

"Very happy with my experience with Mr. Electric. I have used them to put in my whole house generator. They were great. Sam Stone is awesome. He showed up on time and upgraded our panel box. I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company and Sam Stone for all electrical services"

"Joshua came to my home because I’ve lost power in parts of my home. He took a look at my homes electrical system and then we sat down where he explained the issue to me. He worked hard and even pulled a permit for the job and because of his hard work my home has all of its power back on."

Sometimes you open up an outlet and you find this. I am glad that it did not turn into something more.

"Writer is a true professional and electrical guru. He arrived within the allotted time frame, got right to work and quickly identified the problem. He even welcomed me to watch him while he worked as he explained the intricacies of the electrical outlet (which was a GFCI multi-branched oulet, connected to other garage and bathroom outlets). It was clear he knew what he was doing. I would recommend him for any electrical problem or fresh installation, and plan to hire him in the future for other electrical projects I have around my house."

"Was having voltage fluxuations and had many problems with the grounding and corrosion in my AC Mains box. My 100A breaker was burnt on one side, and the ground strip was rusted. A very dangerous situation, glad the house still is standing! Marvin and his Son returned the following day and installed a new AC Mains box. I recommend them for any electrical needs, and will hire them again any day! Thanks Guys."

Small jobs welcome

"Chris did a great job running Ethernet cables throughout our house. Though it took longer than expected, he got the job done and made sure to keep holes in our walls to a minimum."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Oak Park often encounter hidden costs such as permit and inspection fees, required electrical panel upgrades, or replacing outdated wiring. Surprises like asbestos-wrapped wires, difficult access in finished basements, or the need to update grounding systems can also add to expenses. Material price changes and utility service adjustments may further impact your project, so it’s wise to budget for these possibilities.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Oak Park should begin with a comprehensive electrical inspection to check for safety and code compliance. Prioritize installing GFCI outlets in wet areas, updating smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and evaluating your electrical panel for potential replacement. Adding surge protection, upgrading to LED lighting, and installing extra outlets or USB ports can boost both safety and convenience in your home.

Helpful?

In Oak Park, the longevity of electrical work depends on using weather-resistant materials suited to the area’s humidity and temperature swings, as well as ensuring proper grounding and surge protection. Homes with older wiring, like aluminum or knob-and-tube, require careful upgrades to meet current electrical code. Regular electrical inspections and choosing experienced, licensed electricians also help maintain a safe, long-lasting system.

Helpful?

Many Oak Park homes feature slab foundations, finished basements, or brick exteriors, which can make electrical upgrades more complex. Older homes with plaster walls or multiple additions often have challenging wiring paths. If your house has limited attic or crawl space access, expect more involved planning. Evaluating your home’s layout before starting helps anticipate obstacles and ensures a smoother electrical project.

Helpful?

In Oak Park, address electrical issues immediately if you notice tripped breakers, burning odors, or frequent flickering lights—these are signs of potential hazards. Outdated electrical panels or missing GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms also require prompt attention. For less urgent upgrades, plan projects around seasonal weather, and always consider both safety and insurance requirements when prioritizing electrical work.
