SwatchOut consists solely of husband & wife (Chris&Lexi). We take great joy in doing exceptional quality and very detailed work. We've built an excellent reputation since starting our company in 2015 as a way to spend more time together. We're always on time and are often able to make appointments after hours. All of our Angie's List clients get 15% off so be sure to mention where you found us to ensure you get your discount! Thank you for looking us up!

"Chris and Lexi do excellent work. They completed the work on time. They are respectful, hard working, and very professional. Our 30 year old dark dingy kitchen cabinets look factory new. One note is that the color we picked out didn’t match exactly because the swatch was from a different brand they use. But if you look on the back of the paint chip, it says it might not be an exact match anyway, but we are very pleased with the results. Also the O’Leary paint they use is a ceramic based paint, and low maintenance. You clean the surface with mild soap and water."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

The type of flooring you plan to install will determine if it goes in before or after the cabinets. It's okay to swap the order in many cases. However, hardwood floors, sheet materials, and tile often go down before the cabinets go in. Floating floors like laminate or luxury vinyl planking should go down after the cabinets are in place.

Any of your garage shelves should be able to hold heavier loads, but it’s best to place heavier items on middle shelves. The only reason for this is to prevent injury—lifting heavy loads from down low requires squatting or bending over, which can lead to back injury, and lifting heavy loads off of high shelves in the garage can be especially dangerous if you drop them.

Not exactly. While this is a fairly straightforward task to handle without professional assistance, it’s not one that you can do completely on your own. You’ll need a strong person to hold the bathroom vanity level and in place while you screw it into the wall. It’s heavy, so you want to ensure you have help installing it.

In a kitchen installation, starting with the foundation and structural elements before moving on to the finishing touches is essential. Framing, plumbing, and utilities should go first, followed by cabinetry and countertops, then plumbing fixtures and new appliances. Flooring, paint, tile backsplashes, and similar finishing touches should get installed last.

It’s best to stick with lightweight cabinets, such as medium-density fiberboard, if you don’t have a wall stud to secure them to. Unless you’re attaching the cabinet to a flat board attached to wall studs, it’s best not to risk it with heavy cabinetry or contents. Solid wood cabinets and heavy dishware should be avoided if you cannot secure the cabinet to a wall stud. Either way, always check the weight on your wall anchors and be sure not to exceed it.
