"We have struggled to find accountable contractors and Wire Works finally did us justice. Laura, Chris, Jeremy and Sergei impressed us with options, communication, execution and performance. My family, from trades, are very much into code compliance, as well installation aesthetics and the Wire Works Team satisfied both on providing a new electrical service and modifying existing 1954 electrical arrangements. We are pleased to recommend Wire Works as your contractor and look forward to hiring them for future needs."

"We were very pleased with the quality and service we received. We hired Kevin to wire our new construction house project in 2018. We later had him back to install a 12KW solar panel system and an EV charging station in 2021. I highly recommend Kwaske Electric."

"I hired Derek and his colleague to wire up our new hot tub. He was excellent at communicating and providing an estimate before work was started. The quality of work he provided exceeded my expectations. Everything was done neatly, to code, and did not leave a mess at my house. A sprinkler line was damaged during trenching, since we didn't know it was there, and he made the repairs with no questions asked. I would definitely hire him or recommend for electrical work. A+"

"Mike was extremely polite, professional & informative. Despite the fact that he had to leave abruptly from Battle Creek, in order to secure another assignment in Holland. I look forward to having Mike perform any future electrical projects when heâ s available to do so."

"Jarod did an excellent job. Completed an EV outlet install in a few hours. He came out to do an estimate and had all the supplies he needed in his truck and hired him on the spot. Fair pricing and very neat a clean work. EV outlet works like a charm. Will definitely hire him to do future work at my house."

Small jobs welcome

"Andrew came to our house between Ann Arbor and Plymouth at 8 PM on Tuesday when a storm caused an electrical outage. We had a generator but we're only getting partial power in the house. Andrew ran tests inside the house, determining that not enough power was coming into the house. He then started testing different areas of the generator until he found the part not working. Once he located the problem, he quickly fixed it. Because he didn't give up on me or my problem, he restored electricity, saving me hundreds from food spoilage in a refrigerator and freezer. I don't think most electricians would have stuck with the problem or been able or willing to fix the generator. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

After completing electrical work in Lansing, schedule periodic inspections with a licensed electrician to confirm ongoing code compliance and safety. Test GFCI outlets monthly, check for tripped breakers, and inspect outdoor wiring for weather-related damage, especially after winter. The Lansing Building Safety Office also recommends reviewing your electrical panel annually to ensure circuits are not overloaded and all connections remain secure.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Lansing, copper wiring is preferred for residential work due to its compliance with local code and superior conductivity. Use NM cable for indoor applications, but for outdoor or underground wiring, the Lansing Building Safety Office recommends moisture-resistant UF cable. Always verify wire gauge and insulation type with the city's electrical code and ensure all materials are UL-listed for safety and inspection approval.

Helpful?

In Lansing, most electrical projects require an electrical permit from the Building Safety Office, as mandated by the Michigan Electrical Code. This includes work like new wiring, service upgrades, or panel replacements. You must submit detailed plans and schedule both rough-in and final inspections with the city's Electrical Inspector. For official requirements, consult the Lansing Building Safety Office or the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Helpful?

In Lansing, frequent mistakes include using incorrect wire gauges, failing to obtain required electrical permits, and neglecting proper grounding. These errors often lead to failed inspections or safety hazards, according to the Lansing Building Safety Office. To avoid issues, always follow the Michigan Electrical Code, double-check material specifications, and consult the city's Electrical Inspector or a licensed professional before starting your project.

Helpful?

DIY electrical work in Lansing may reduce costs, but improper installations can result in failed inspections or code violations under the Michigan Electrical Code. Hiring a licensed Lansing electrician ensures compliance with local permitting, proper electrical inspections, and adherence to safety standards. While professional services cost more upfront, they help avoid fines, delays, and potential hazards, as emphasized by the Lansing Building Safety Office.
