"DPH Tree Services took down a dying maple tree for us. They did a great job. It was taken down, starting at the top, piece by piece, since there wasn't enough room to drop it in one piece. I strongly recomend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Jeremy and his woodchopper team members were phenomenal. They took care of our tree removals and even helped us to recognize other critical issues around the house such as gas lines. They were punctual, effective, and courteous. We would recommend this company to anyone and we plan to hire them again for our future tree service needs. Thank you, Jeremy and your team!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Very nice people to work with. They took down 30+ trees, cleaned up the area, and ground all the stumps. They removed all the large trunks and shredded the smaller branches and trees. They were here when they said they would be. I was extremely happy with the job they did. Again, all of the workers were professional and very easy to work with."

"I called Aaron, and to my surprise,he answered the phone.Other places I called never returned my calls. He was out here in 30 minutes, equipment in tow.He gave me a fair price for the 8 stumps that needed to be removed. He done a great job.I would not hesitate to use him again. In this world where it takes how many phone calls to get to talk to a person. It was a breath of fresh air to deal with somebody that did what he said he was going to do.I told you I would right a review Aaron. Thanks again. You got a nice business going with great customer service.Keep up the great work."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In Lansing, tree service safety starts with using certified protective equipment and following guidelines from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Before work, contact MISS DIG 811 to mark underground utilities and notify the Lansing Board of Water & Light if working near power lines. Avoid tree work during high winds or storms, and always hire licensed professionals for hazardous or large-scale removals to ensure compliance and safety.

Helpful?

For tree service in Lansing, use professional-grade chainsaws, climbing ropes, and safety harnesses that meet Michigan state safety standards. Local hardware stores and Lansing-based equipment suppliers offer tools suited for the region's hardwood species and seasonal conditions. Consulting with the Lansing City Forestry Division can help ensure you select materials that comply with city guidelines and promote safe, efficient tree removal or pruning.

Helpful?

In Lansing, frequent mistakes include improper pruning techniques, such as topping or removing more than 25% of a tree's canopy, which can violate the Lansing Tree Ordinance and harm tree health. Homeowners sometimes neglect to verify contractor licensing or insurance, or attempt removal near power lines without proper notification to the Lansing Board of Water & Light. Avoiding these errors protects your property and ensures compliance with local regulations.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Lansing may encounter unexpected expenses during tree service, such as permit processing fees from the Lansing City Forestry Division, additional requirements for protected tree species, and specialized equipment needs for tight urban spaces. Extra costs can also result from debris removal regulations or repairs to landscaping and irrigation systems if heavy machinery is used. Always confirm requirements with local authorities to minimize surprises.

Helpful?

For tree service in Lansing, you generally need a tree removal permit for any tree over 8 inches in diameter on private property, as outlined by the Lansing City Forestry Division. Heritage or landmark trees, as defined in the Lansing Tree Ordinance, require a special review. Work in the public right-of-way must be approved by the Lansing Parks & Recreation Department. Always consult these authorities for updates or requirements in protected zones.
