"Great. The contractor from Jimmy Gusky arrived on time and within 45 minutes had provided a full inspection and determined the unit was fine and had simply malfunctioned temporarily during several extremely hot day.s. So this saved me many thousands of dollars. Great experience."

"Ehrhardt Brothers did not disappoint. DJ sympathized with our situation and managed to schedule one of their plumbers who had expert knowledge of our water heater to make a call to our home in between a couple of other service calls that he had to make. When Keith showed up, he was very polite and professional and immediately put protective slippers on over his work boots. He set to work and had our hot water heater repaired in no time. I would totally recommend this company. In fact, I gave their name to my realtor so that she could add them to her agency's list of recommended plumbers."

Customers say: True professional

"I called Fred & Son because I had noted they were on Angie's List, as well as with another evaluation organization, and had received  very favorable recommendations.  Fred answered the phone himself (which impressed me) and advised that he would visit me between 9:00 am and 10:00 am to examine the problem. He arrived at 9:00 am, sharp. Again, I was impressed. He was friendly and attentive as I led him to the now defunct water heater.  He carefully reviewed the situation and provided me with a fair price quote.  I quickly accepted!  From the start, Fred was poised and worked with ease in my small and somewhat messy basement.  He also received an unexpected jolt when we both realized the necessary circuit breaker had been mismarked.  He took this and other inconveniences in stride and finished the job in just under 4 hours.  Fred is now my permanent plumber!  I only wish that I had the foresight to be aware of him before now . . I could easily have saved a few thousand dollars in late calls and poor workmanship.  I have contacted my sister-in-law and my 103 year old mother-in-law to share my good fortune, which is now their good fortune as well!  Based on my experience, I would heartily recommend Fred & Son to anyone seeking the resolution of a serious plumbing problem at a fair price.

"Woke up this morning to my hvac leaking and contacted Markool. I have never used them before and was in a pinch. They fit me right in this morning and were out at my house within 2 hours. The tech stepped in the door and placed covers for his shoes so he did not track in any dirt which was impressive! The tech was very professional and super friendly. Problem was diagnosed and FIXED within an hour. The price was extremely reasonable to the point I was shocked in a good way (expecting a higher price). Anyways, I will most certainly be a returning customer. Thank you Markool Heating Cooling Plumbing."

"Hired Pohlman to evaluate two natural gas tank water heaters in our home, one of which was unoperational. They suggested combi-boiler for our home in lieu of two tank water heaters. They did a great job and we are very pleased. Customer service is top notch, and I highly recommend Pohlman Plumbing."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Electric water heaters do not need an attached vent, but the location of the water heater should allow for roughly 12 inches of clearance around it. This allows cool air to flow around the appliance and allows repair technicians to work on its components safely. The exact amount of clearance space required depends on your local building codes.

Flushing biannually, checking the anode rod, and temperature settings maximize equipment lifespan while reducing surprise costs.

Homeowners insurance may cover the repair or replacement of a water heater if it's damaged by a covered peril, such as a fire or a burst pipe. However, policies typically do not cover repairs or replacement needed due to normal wear and tear, old age, or lack of maintenance. For these issues, a home warranty or a manufacturer's warranty may provide coverage. While the policy might not pay to fix or replace the malfunctioning appliance itself, it often covers the cost of water damage restoration caused by the faulty water heater. Always check with your insurance provider to understand the specifics of your policy.

Any item that can hold on to moisture and encourage mold growth should be discarded and replaced following water damage. Upholstered items, such as armchairs and couches, and soft items, such as mattresses, usually must be thrown away once they've taken on a lot of water. Soft furniture is difficult to dry out, creating an inviting environment for mold.

You may also need to replace hardwood furniture following water damage if you're unable to fully dry it out. If you have appliances and electronics that have been fully submerged in water, particularly sewage, you'll need to replace those, too.

Often, the first issue you might encounter is a lack or loss of power—this could be caused by a tripped switch or a failed heating element. If your hot water is not producing enough power and its size is not the issue, you might need to replace one of its heating elements. A leaking water heater could be caused by tank erosion.
