"Zen windows was wonderful from start to finish. No hard sell, no deposit required, they kept in touch while we waited for the doors to be manufactured and delivered. The installers came on the scheduled day, on time, installed the doors, cleaned up and left. They were professional and friendly and my new doors are BEAUTIFUL!"

"Great experience! They got to me very fast. The service tech came to my house to give a quote and told me he could fix it on the spot if I wanted. I am moving so I needed the window fixed ASAP. About 30-45 minutes later new window! Looks great! I definitely recommend them."

"It was amazing. Before the work, it was amazing how little rain it would take to cause standing water in the yard. After they completed, we got 2" of rain in one day and had no standing water anywhere in the area they worked."

"Excellent work. The person who assisted us was gruff and no-nonsense, but professional. He asked that we send a photo of the window, which we did. He then came out and measured the window. He came back a couple of days later, and completed the work. The window looks fantastic, and we are very pleased with his work."

"UNICORP recently replaced 29 windows, including 1 casement and 1 large sliding glass door at our residence. To say that were are pleased with the final product is a great understatement. The company owner, Brian, made the initial visit to our home and he is very personable, professional, highly knowledgeable and very passionate about the product he sells. The installation crew, led by Paul, was outstanding. They were highly skilled, attentive to the smallest detail, very easy to have in our home, AND did a great final cleanup. No trash or debris anywhere. The actual windows are amazing. High-quality, custom made, and reasonably priced. Particularly noteworthy is the significant reduction of outside noise. The screens are barely noticeable which makes for a big visual improvement. For higher cost projects we routinely obtain 3 estimates before moving forward. In this instance, we followed our gut, and went with the first company, Unicorp, cancelled appointments with 2 other companies. Not our usual approach, but our intuition served us well. If you're in the market for new windows you owe it to yourself to contact UNICORP and give them an opportunity to submit an estimate. I'm betting you won't regret it. David and Lauren"

"We have had NovaExteriors replace all our gutters, windows, sliding doors and front door over the last several years from the contractor grade products that the town house was built with. We have been very pleased with everything. They installed our steel front door about 10 years ago and we started to have issues with the deadbolt not aligning with the door jam and the rubber sweep wearing out over time. I contacted NovaExteriors, made my appointment and they arrived right on time and performed the needed maintenance that was required. The door is back to being perfect. Once again, we were very pleased with NovaExteriors, their prompt arrival and the quality of work. You can't go wrong with NovaExteriors."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

You can trim an overhead garage door screen to fit your garage door opening. This is a particularly helpful hack if you have an irregularly sized garage door opening but are still interested in installing a garage door screen to keep pests and debris out. Trim the garage door screen carefully to avoid unsightly edges or an uneven fit.

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

Pet-resistant, vinyl-coated polyester is one of the strongest window screen materials available, with some manufacturers touting a 7x increase in strength compared to standard fiberglass screens. Stainless steel security screens are also extremely strong, but they’re not suitable for coastal areas due to the risk of corrosion from salty sea air. If sea air isn’t a concern, stainless steel is extremely tough.

Tears, holes, or difficulty in opening and closing suggest a need for repair.

On average, it cost $2,900 to rescreen a patio, porch, or sunroom, with homeowners paying anywhere from $800 to $5,200. The cost to rescreen a porch, patio, or sunroom enclosure depends on the size of the enclosure, the extent of the damage, and the materials used to replace existing screens.
