"Mr. Luis and team did an excellent job on all the projects - Whole house pressure washing, deck pressure washing, deck staining, rotten wood repair around exterior window trim, and painting of exterior shutters. The rates are reasonable. They performed the work on-time and completed as promised."

"Last spring C&Painting did a great job on the entryway, kitchen, main living/dining area and hall in my condo. I contracted Jose again this year to paint our master bedroom suite, guest bedroom and bathroom, and we were again very pleased. We did not need ceilings or trim done. Jose and crew are reliable, professional, careful with your furniture, carpeting etc., and aim to please. They also clean up when done. I can happily recommend them."

"Edward and his team repaired, power washed and stained our deck, stained our fence, sealed nail holes in our siding and touched up the paint on the siding. The quote was very reasonable and the work was completely quickly. Edward also took the time to answer all of my questions via email or text and performed touch-ups. I would hire this company again."

"Kyle was fantastic! He came to my house right away and gave us an estimate. We were planning to initially go with them, but then my husband (and our previous contractor) were so skeptical about the 1 day painting we decided to put it off and even "gasp" considered painting it ourselves!
Thank good I ended up calling Kyle back (despite my husband's skepticism) - he and his team were great! While they do have a color consultant, i chose the colors myself by getting a couple of samples from Sherwin Williams and putting it up on the wall.
Kyle & his team of 5 painters arrived promptly at 8am as they said they would. While they were 1 painter short compared to what they planned, they were AMAZING. They did 3-4 hours of prep (more prep on my walls than we thought) and painted all of the walls the first day. I believe the prep involved sanding, some priming, and patchwork (though they could tell you the specifics). They cleaned a few times throughout the day and draped the entire floor. I had started to move some of the items before they came but they moved the other stuff (and in fact had told me they would be moving it all ahead of time). On day 2, they did all of the trim and doors. Just 3 people came that day and finished the job within a few hours. It was not at all intrusive, and I hardly even noticed they were there the 2nd day.  I am most amazed at how perfectly they cut in the lines!
Kyle came multiple times throughout to make sure that everything was done properly. They even removed some of the old alarm system equipment and intercom that wasn't working for me without hesitation.
I cannot tell you enough how shocked my husband was when he saw their work. After the first day he went downstairs and actually said "wow" - and realized why they are called WOW 1 day painting. We would both STRONGLY recommend Kyle and his team for the job as they are extremely professional, detail oriented, fast, clean, and just amazing. If you're even considering a new color but are overwhelmed  by the process of painting and the time it will take, don't. Hire these guys, they will make it seem so easy.

"This is our fourth time using Diaz for our home renovations. He refinished and stained floors and painted several rooms. He also rebuilt an upstairs deck. In addition, he took care of about 10 other little things that needed fixing. As always, Diaz was the best contractor we’ve ever encountered. He came right out for a free estimate. He gave us constructive advice on the proposed work. His crew got started right away - they were reliable, on time, courteous, and cleaned up impeccably each day. Diaz stuck to his estimate. In addition to all these positive traits, one of the best things is that Diaz and his team can literally take care of anything. You will not have to rely on a subcontractor or having to call somebody else - he does painting, flooring, kitchens, doors/windows, drywall work, tiling, bathrooms, etc. He even has his own tree guy and electrician for when those things come up. He doesn’t just do everything, but everything is done to perfection. Highly recommended!"

"Highly recommend. CCE staff arrived to give quote for wood deck washing and offer accepted, very fair pricing and promise of outcome. Staff arrived to our house on time and went directly to work, very courteous, high degree of tasking skills, and performed as advertised. We were so very excited about the wonderful restored appearance and physical status of our, prior to this work grayed and dirty deck wood. The staff cleaned EVERY SINGLE SURFACE of the deck, looks like it was just installed. Yes, I will recommend and employ CCE for any future house repair needs."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.
