"Marvin and his team are excellent. They were prompt and rather than replacing a faucet, ended up fixing it for a saving of over $150! Also, the faucet they fixed was one where multiple plumbers said they could not fix and therefore needed to be replaced. One evens said they needed to break a wall! The original faucet is very expensive, so the $150 replacement was for a cheap Home Depot version. So yes, I would recommend them because of their skill and ability to get the job done. Also, very polite."

"From start to finish, Eugene and his crew were excellent to work with. Our free estimate was much more concise than the "ballpark estimate" thrown out by other companies. While you should always budget for surprises during construction, our estimate was itemized in detail, and showed what upgrades were available and their pricing. The total price was the best of all of our estimates. They worked efficiently, were always friendly, and cleaned up each night before they left. "STAY AWAY!!!! This Company cancelled the initial estimate on me 3 times making me drive 90 minutes to the property each time. They finally showed and gave me the typical hard sell "if you sign the contract today..." They gave us a quote so far over market value we should have walked away. But we agreed because of the "70 year history in the industry" We thought we were buying a service from a company with integrity. They took an immediate $18K deposit on a $55K project. I know, shame on me for agreeing to such an amount. We knew we were over spending, but... One month later, they simply cancelled the contract without explanation and without any work on the project. This contract was binding on us but, in their words, was not binding on them because "there's a clause in the fine print that allows them to cancel" THEY STILL HAVE OUR MONEY and I STILL NEED A ROOF Stay away from this company. No integrity No responsibility Unreliable Over priced Will take your money and keep it"

"We have used S&J Painting and Remodeling many times over the past 5 years, most recently (spring 2025) for handyman services. S&J provide services for a full day, so we typically accumulate a few projects. Our most recent project included replacing two faucets, fixing a very loose banister, repairing a hole in the drywall, as well as a few basic jobs, hanging pictures and installing bathroom fixtures. I expected to paint after the drywall and banister were repaired, but they took care of it for me. When replacing one of the faucets they found the supply lines were old and rusty. They went to Home Depot, purchased new supply lines and installed them at no extra cost. While there they picked up some brackets to secure some other loose pipes they happened to see while in the utility room. We really appreciate the extra attention to detail and doing more than we even realized needed done. We are already accumulating new projects. Scheduling and workday communication is excellent."

They did an outstanding job from conception through to the last details in finishing an extensive series of renovations - complete kitchen tear-down and renovation, master bathroom and closet teardown and renovation, two bathroom complete retiling/renovation, building two new rooms out of a very large basement, and replacing two forced air HVAC systems - they managed all aspects including proper construction permits. They did high-quality work at a very good price. They did an outstanding job with the work, with high attention to detail.
