"Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am very sorry that it was not easier for you and apologize for the inconveniences that we created. We have been trying to get in touch with you since 8/3 so that we could learn more about your experience and any outstanding issues you need addressed. We have been able to speak with the contractor and have learned some details but really would like to be able to speak with you directly. You can contact our Elkridge branch manager Kim Espil directly at 703-379-3316 at your convenience. We are very sorry as this is never the type of experience we would want any client to have. Thank you, Jim Grace Reico Kitchen & Bath 703-245-0414"
The contractor also did a good job. His initial estimate was way too high, but after he itemized the work, I was able to pare down the project to a more limited scope and more reasonable estimate. I was pleased with his installation work and his attention to detail. He asked a lot of questions and gave options to problem solve around the many challenges that surface in projects of this type.
When it came time for installation, most of the proper cabinets came in on time, with an acceptable number of mistakes. They were slow in correcting the wrong materials, but since the rest of the house was still being built, it didn't put us behind schedule.
Once we moved into the house, it took a few months for us to notice that one base cabinet was defective- the side panel was warped. It had apparently gotten water damage at some point. The damage had to be pre-installation, since there was no source of water near the cabinet (It was not associated with the sink counter, and I noticed it the first time that I mopped the floor).
I put it on the punch list for my building contractor to take care of, as he finished up the little things around the new house. He tried for several months to contact Reico before they finally responded. They have refused to take responsibility for the damaged cabinet, and are charging us about $400 to replace the side wall of the cabinet.
Finally, We really wanted to go as Green as possible in the construction of the house. When we went to Reico, we asked if they had bamboo cabinets. They said that they did, so we purchased them, only to find out that they were only a veneer of bamboo, rather than bamboo ply. Obviously NOT a green product, and again, either irresponsible or dishonest representation on the part of Reico, in my opinion.
The quality of the cabinets is about the same as what we could have purchased at IKEA for about 1/3 of the cost, including sliding drawers, etc.
So, overall, we were disappointed in the the overall quality of Reico's services and products. I could not recommend them to others, and will certainly not use them again as we build out the bathroom in our basement and construct an outdoor kitchen on our back porch.
