"We had an excellent experience. They came out and gave us a very fair quote. I felt no pressure while deciding on what design we wanted. They day of installation could not have gone any smoother. They are a very professional competent team. The fence is exactly what I had hoped for, we now have a little oasis of a backyard."

"Fence and Deck is the only company we will ever use for these kinds of projects. We had a fence replaced some years ago and were happy with the work, product and customer service since that project was finished. We decide to go with Fence and Deck to replace our old deck that was really falling part. Everything from the initial appointment through project clean up was done completely professionally. The demolition crew caused a small problem with our electricity, but the project manager more than amply recompensed us for it. We had a separate company remove a backyard pool right before the deck replacement. The Fence and Deck project manager and other company reps kept in constant contact with us, and were unbelievably flexible when the first project was delayed several times. Fence and Deck really sets the standard for how companies can make customers very happy."

"I’d definitely recommend Fence and Deck in the future. Our experience was great from the initial proposal visit to completion of the project. Although your company was very busy, Fence and Deck met each schedule milestone and completed the work on time. I appreciated the visit by the job foreman who talked me through each step of the job and worked with me on the final configuration. On construction day the crew showed up on time, removed the old fencing, completed the new fence, and cleaned up bits and pieces of debris before leaving. We are very satisfied with the work and the neighbors are happy too."

Small jobs welcome

"Carlos came to the property to inspect and price the job. He was clear in describing what he would do, how and when. The fence was beautifully built at a most competitive price. Ge hauled away the old fence and left the yard neat and clean. This is the second job CLM has done for me. I will always use them!!"

Customers say: True professional

"The job went great. It had to be pushed back from Monday 2 days due to rain. I was called early Monday morning and told they'd be out on Wednesday. They showed up early Wednesday and got right to work after walking the job. Very polite, efficient and professional. Rustic Fence did the original fence 26 years ago. A pleasure to work with."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

To maintain a chain link fence and extend its lifespan, perform routine checks and cleaning. This includes inspecting for rust, tightening any loose bolts or hardware, and removing debris buildup. These steps help preserve the fence's appearance and function.

Aluminum is among the longest-lasting fencing materials, with a lifespan of 30 to 50 years or more. One of the reasons it lasts so long is because aluminum is highly resistant to rust and corrosion. You can help prolong its lifespan by keeping it free of vegetation and cleaning it every few months with a hose and mild soap.

There are many pros and cons to vinyl and composite fencing. Both fencing types offer longer lifespans than wood fencing, with some notable advantages. Whether one is better for you will depend on a few factors. Composite is better if you prefer recycled materials, while vinyl is extremely easy to clean.

Also, consider the disadvantages: vinyl can be more expensive, while composite fencing fades during the first six months.

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

The maximum recommended slope on which you can build a racked or stepped fence is 45 degrees. After that, construction becomes quite tricky and may require the use of retaining walls or terraces to make the fenced area flatter.
