"We had insulation installed a week earlier by Koala. During the insulation, Jasper (insulator) suggested another area that we might consider installing blown-in insulation. We agreed and the second job was performed on Friday, the 24th. Jasper and Richard were on time, the insulation project was well done and they left the area very clean. Would use them again."

"Great! Job was complete .... removal of existing 50+ year old insulation, air sealing attic, baffle installation, installed 18 inches new fiberglass blown insulation, and new whole-house fan. Job started and completed as proposed. Crew on-time, quietly performed their work, and left spaces clean when done. Definitely worth the cost as noticeable improvement in second floor temperature and humidity readings."
Owens Corning ProPink R-49 Blown-In Insulation. Our most popular product
These vents help your attic circulate air. With attics reaching over 120 degrees in the summer these are very important. They prevent mold and increase the lifetime of your insulation. Most other contractors miss installing these.
Look at the difference! Our foam is fire-rated which allows us to air seal around penetrations that contractors never could before.
Most homes have penetrations all over there attic. Imagine trying to blow up a balloon with a bunch of holes. It will never fill up. Now imagine trying to blow up your house with air conditioning and heating with a bunch of holes in the attic. It will never fill up.
Recessed can lights are notorious for leaking air. Recessed can light covers help with air-sealing your living space and prevent fires.

"Atlas Home Energy Solution performed an energy audit for my home, followed by various insulation and weather-proofing tasks. Three other companies gave me estimates much higher for a work smaller in scope. Atlas estimate was lower for a more extensive work, and when combined with the rebate from BGE, turned out to be a highly reasonable deal. The employees were pleasant, courteous, and performed every task to perfection. I highly recommend them for any home energy issues"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

If you’re using faced insulation with paper, face the paper toward the inside of the room during the installation process.

A good way to remember this is that the paper should face the “warm side” as it’s the vapor barrier, meaning it should face toward where the heat will be coming from.

The ideal temperature for your garage in the winter is between 40 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining a minimum temperature of at least 40 to 50 degrees is crucial to prevent pipes, liquids, and other items from freezing. Low temperatures can also drain your car battery, so keeping the garage stable is vital for your vehicle. While the lower end of the range protects your belongings, the higher end is based on your personal preference for a comfortable space. If you struggle to keep the temperature from dropping below 40 degrees, consider installing a garage heater.

Installing new insulation in a home is worthwhile if your existing insulation is old and has lost some of its insulative capability or if you don’t have insulation installed already. Installing new insulation will boost your home’s energy efficiency, which can reduce your heating and cooling bills and save money on HVAC repair and maintenance in the long run. New insulation also keeps your living space more comfortable, so you and your family will benefit from the work as well. Finally, installing new insulation boosts your home value, making it especially worthwhile if you plan to sell.

Yes, it is possible to have too much insulation, which can have detrimental effects. While more insulation might seem better for energy efficiency, a home needs to "breathe" or ventilate to release moisture that accumulates inside. Over-insulating can seal a house too tightly, trapping water vapor and leading to several problems, including mold, mildew, and condensation. Homes in warm, humid climates are particularly susceptible to mold, while those in colder climates can experience condensation from temperature fluctuations. Additionally, adding more insulation than the recommended amount for your climate may not provide recoverable energy savings. To avoid these issues, consult a professional insulation contractor who can determine the optimal amount of insulation for your home.

Water heater blanket prices range from $20 to $40 on average, though you typically won’t need to spend more than $30 for all the tools and materials required for installation—which include the blanket itself, heavy-duty scissors, and electrical tape. Blankets with higher R-values will also be slightly higher in price.
