"Acme Stove of Fairfax installed my Mendota fireplace insert in 2015. It's worked beautifully sever since. Yesterday, the display on the remote control went blank after it was dropped on the floor. I tried realigning the batteries but still no display. Tony White at Acme Stove told me to bring the remote in so he could look at it and if necessary match it with a replacement. At the store, Tony tried fresh batteries but still no display. He, however, noticed issues with the springs and contacts for the batteries. In a few minutes, he realigned the contacts and voila the problem was solved. The remote was back in operation. No charge for service. Tony's persistence and attention to detail saved me $180. Thanks, Tony. It's a pleasure doing business with Acme Stove.

"It was easy to make an appointment for service. I could have had an appointment within a day or two of my inquiry, but I had other plans that day and the appointment got pushed to a couple of days later when I could be there. Mike arrived promptly and got to work on the fireplace. I didn’t know much about it, so I watched and asked a lot of questions while he was working. Mike answered all my questions fully and made sure I understood the different settings and dials and elements. He thoroughly cleaned the inside of the fireplace and the “logs” and set the flame levels to the optimal settings for desired heat, clean operation, and beauty. He also explained how he was placing the rock wool to simulate embers. He gave me information about the pros and cons of different choices and I was very satisfied with all decisions. He gave me a lot of information about several common problems that I might encounter (like batteries not making good contact) and told me what I could try to fix them rather than calling for a service appointment right off the bat. He also explained how to do several tasks that would help me avoid future problems with the fireplace. I appreciated he information. I do believe I have found my permanent gas fireplace maintenance company!
