"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"I suspected that I has a blocked drain because of odors while running the washer. I purchased a drain clean out special, however the crew did an inspection and tested the flow and determined this was not needed. They also found that my laundry trap was dry and that the washer could have stale water trapped inside causing the odor. They had trouble opening the rusted clean out and mentioned that it would cost thousands to dig it out and replace the pipe. They were eventually able to get it open and confirm that my drain to the street was not the issue. I appreciated the thorough testing and them not doing an unneeded service. I was only charged $65 and used the difference for another service. I would recommend AAA Walsh."

"Carrie, the salesperson, and Matt, the owner, both explained what would be done and answered my questions. Matt and the other workers were friendly and kept me informed of their progress. It took longer than normal due to a holiday, hot humid weather, and a worker's family vacation -- all understandable. They kept the work site neat and weather-proof every day. They hand-dug the hole which meant no machinery on my lawn. Sawing the concrete was done from the outside and I had very little dust inside the basement. They only cut out the drywall in my finished basement that was necessary, which gives me less drywall to have patched up. They removed all the excess soil. The dirt around the window was topped off with the rocky soil from below, but that's probably because I had taken the top soil before they came and we failed to coordinate putting it back. Overall, I'm satisfied."

"I purchased an "Angie's Big Deal" to have three small jobs done at my home. I needed a toilet put in place in my powder room, a faucet changed in my kitchen, and a water filter installed in the kitchen. These three projects took longer than expected and I ended up paying for additional labor time. The installer encountered a few problems installing the water filtration system and had to come back out to correct them. Phone calls were returned promptly and follow-up before, during, and after the projects were completed was good."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Several factors can impact the cost of waterproofing your basement. Some of the most common cost factors include:

  • Location

  • Square footage

  • Cause of the water leak

  • Type of foundation

  • Accessibility

  • Waterproofing method

  • Materials

  • Contractor experience and availability

  • Engineering reports, if needed

  • Structural and other repairs

  • Permits

A sump pump is one of the most common ways to get excess moisture out of your home, but it’s not the only way. If your home doesn't have a sump pump, other options to get excess water out of the basement include trash pumps, submersible pumps, service pumps, and hand-crank pumps. However, it’s worth calling a pro in to assess your situation and potentially install a sump pump for you.

There are a few possible sump pump drainage locations, including a neighborhood storm drain, into a creek or pond, or underground. Don’t let your sump pump water go into your sewer or septic system. Ideally, your drainage spot should be on a downhill slope that’s at least 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. Before choosing a location, check your local codes and regulations.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the scope and site preparation.

The cost to install a new sump pump, including materials and professional labor, typically ranges from $1,000 to $3,000. The average cost is often cited between $1,200 and $2,500. Several factors influence the final price, including the type of pump, the complexity of the drainage system, and the installation location. For instance, installing a sump pump in a basement may cost around $1,200, while a more complex installation in a crawl space can cost an average of $3,900. It is important to hire a licensed professional for the installation to ensure quality work, which can impact the pump's lifespan and warranty. Note that these costs are for a new installation; replacing an existing unit is less expensive, typically costing $308 to $748.
