"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"David, at Gardner Environmental Services, professionally performed numerous air sample tests inside our home due to a minor smelling of mold in one spot.Fortunately, his lab resource came back with negative results on each location sample David tested. David was reassuring and pleasant to work with. I would recommend his company, to anyone."

"I needed to have a slip proofing put on the pergo for my dogs in addition to the replacement of a bathroom fan and a repair to my garage ceiling drywall. Daniel read up on how to apply the slip proofing for the pergo before coming to the house and recommended a nice ceiling fan. The price was very affordable and all of the work was done well. I am posting this review now because I came looking for him to do some more work in my house."

"

Most of you who know me also know that my house has gotten water in the basement ever since I bought it in 1990 - 91. If there was more than a inch of rain, the basement would seep. We are in a low lying area. We have used the wet vac for cleaning up the mess and had just about everything on wheels and/or platforms. I just cant do it anymore so I decided to get quotes for a French drain system all around the house and a new sump pump at the other end of the house.  I went with Basement Authorities because I liked the system they were going to use and the price was reasonable and in-line with my other quotes.

These guys were such hard workers. They moved everything in the basement to the middle of the basement and covered it. They broke up the concrete in one back room and installed a sump pit with 1/2 Champion pump and StormPro 2100 with a battery backup. Then they jackhammered the perimeter of the basement like 3 foot wide by 2 foot deep and removed all of the busted cement (bucket by bucket). They laid new gravel down so they could  to install the Geo Channel. They re-cemented the floor back up. Installed 1/2 hp Champion sump pump in existing pit. Then outside they dug a channel from the house to about 25 foot away from the house and buried the discharge PVC to a bubble pot for the new sump pit. These guys were such hard workers and so very polite. They went into the basement and I didn't see them until they took a lunch break. Then back down to the basement. I can't say I didn't hear them because there was a jackhammer going at all times. It was a real dusty mess for the upstairs too: I changed the furnace filter daily.

When the guys would bring up buckets of the busted cement, they would return to the basement with a bag or two of new cement mix. They were so organized and knew what they were doing. They used 118+ bags of cement to seal up the basement. If I had any questions, they would answer me. I would have to pick up my mother from dialysis a few times, and left the workers alone in my house (that is how much I trusted them).

They took a little less than a week to finish the job. They took off the plastic covering and cleaned up the basement. Matt told me that I should wait a week before the stuff (machines etc.) should be put back. But, if I waited like 30 days, it would be a better cure for the cement. All I need the basement for is laundry and a project on occasion. So, I waited until mid January to call them for a few spots that were not level enough for me. They came a few days after my call, leveled out a few spots and finished up the work.

I have to say; I waited to write this because I wanted to make sure everything worked. The snow is melting and the pumps have started to run. The basement is dry. So far so good. I am so happy I could just cry. If you are considering basement work, you should look at these guys. They work hard, (no screwing around) the owner works right along side his men and they do a great job. When I decided to do this I was so apprehensive, it was a lot of money that I certainly couldn't waste and having strangers in the house. I picked a good company.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, water and water vapor can seep through cracks in your basement floor, which means you should address all basement floor cracks, even if they don’t indicate structural issues. Sealing settling cracks and shrinkage cracks is a good idea to keep water and moisture outside where it belongs. Doing so can improve your indoor air quality, reduce the risk of mold growth, make your home more comfortable, and help prevent pest infestation.

Anything having to do with the structure of your home, such as raising the ceiling, is usually the most expensive part of finishing a basement. Another project component that could be a surprisingly high expense is adding an exterior entrance.

The cost of a walkout basement can be anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out. If you intend on using the area as living space or a separate apartment, you should check with your local building department to make sure it’s legal to do so.

Topical sealers adhere to the surface of concrete to create a protective layer. In many cases, this is all you need for concrete that sees light to moderate traffic, such as your basement. Penetrating sealers, on the other hand, bond with the free lime in the top layer of concrete to form calcium silicate, which prevents liquid from passing through. This type of sealer protects the surface from water, oil, and gasoline spills.

Flooded basement cleanup can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the extent of water damage, the type of water involved, and the need for repairs or mold remediation. Severe cases with structural damage or extensive mold may require longer timelines. Quick action and professional help can speed up the process and reduce overall damage.
