"This is the best company to have ever worked in my house. It took me a week of reviews and readings before selecting American Radon Systems to install the radon mitigation system in my house and I made the right choice. Bill and the rest of the workers are extreemly courteous. Bill took time to come and explain every details to me. He was so friendly and it was like we've been friend for a very long. I think Bill enjoy his work than the money. His staffs are very dedicated to the work, well organize, and pay attentions to details. The materials they used were topnotch qualities (I checked online) and the finishings were so perfect. Within a day, the radon in my basement dropped from 6 to below 1.0 and has stay low ever since (very effective). The cost was relatively low (very cheap). In general, I will rate American Radon Systems 10/5! Yes, the rating was not an error but because they exceeded my expectations. Please, hire American Radon Systems and thank me later! Thanks again Bill. I will recommend you any day to anybody without reservation."

"They contacted us immediately and were here the next day to test our home for radon. They were very thorough and inspired confidence. They also gave us a report of what they found. Also resonable prices!"

"Schan did a great job, very professional. He came out to see what the job was before he gave me a quote. I have a huge crawl space which took some time but he stuck with it to finish it in one day. Now I can breathe easier knowing it's taking care of right. I highly recommend Clean Air Radon Systems."

"I consulted with Radon Doctor about my home. The four foot high basement had 5 pci in a 48 hour test. The first living floor was 1.5 pci in the same test. Radon Doctor advised me to monitor radon levels on the living floor over 6 months during winter season and get back to them for mitigation if needed. They did not take advantage of a single basement reading to insist I install a system that would not affect the living floor levels. These guys are legit."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Many radon fans carry a five-year manufacturer's warranty. That said, your radon fan should last between five and ten years. Regular inspections will ensure the fan is operating properly. Unusual or exceptional noise coming from the fan or indications on your manometer or system monitor can immediately tell you that something is amiss.

No, air purifiers are not an effective way to reduce or remove radon. Radon is a radioactive, inert gas that cannot be filtered by standard air purifiers, which are designed to capture particulates like dust and mold. While an air purifier can improve indoor air quality by removing other pollutants, it should not be relied upon for radon. The only effective solution for high radon levels is a dedicated radon mitigation system.

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

Installing a mitigation system reduces radon levels, which can cause lung cancer, providing peace of mind and long-term health benefits. It can also increase your home’s value, as many buyers prefer properties with radon safety measures in place. The investment is relatively low compared to the potential health risks associated with prolonged radon exposure.
