"Alex and Mario took on a very complicated rebuild of my floors and subfloors due to extensive water damage. The results are exceptional! I will have them back shortly to perform sanding, stain and sealing to the upstairs wood flooring to match to finish the special touches they provide - Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

"Called Mr. Carpet about two weeks ago and received a phone call back from Mary in less than 12 hours.  She set up the appointment for Bob to come out and measure the various area slated for carpeting.  Bob arrived on time, took his shoes off and began measuring the areas for replacement.  He then showed up various samples of carpeting from three large sample books.  He also broke down his estimate to exclude some areas that we thought we would hold off on replacing.  We eventually decided to have all the areas re-carpeted so that the carpeting would flow from one area to the other.
Got a call the day before the carpeting was to be installed telling me that Carlos and his team would be doing the work and would be at the house between 9-10am.  Next morning Carlos called and told us he would be there with his team of two other workers at 8:45 which was fine with us.  They came in and immediately began relocating the furniture using profession moving techniques including runners put under the china cabinets which were then moved to another area.  Each guy had his own job and they worked very good together.  By 11 AM they had all the padding and most of the carpeting installed except for the floating stairs that needed much more work. After laying the carpet they vacuumed all the floors and disposed of the old carpeting.
I really liked working with these guys and they knew exactly what to do in every situation.

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

"Mitchell came in and inspected my floor. He told me exactly what job they where going to on my floor. He explained everything thoroughly to me. He was also very helpful in helping me pick a color. He was very professional and very personable. I felt comfortable going ahead with the project."

"The estimate we got was a great price for installing hardwood flooring. The 3 guys that came to work in the floor were very nice and asked us questions if they were unsure about anything. They put plastic up to contain the dust from sanding. It worked so well that we didn't have dust anywhere they weren't working! The hardwood floor turned out amazing, and I would hire them again for my next flooring project."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

A subfloor's lifespan can range from 30 years to the entire life of the house, which is often between 50 and 100 years. The actual longevity depends on the material and its protection from damage. For example, while OSB may last longer than plywood, it is not the best choice for heavy flooring like ceramic tile. The most critical factor is moisture; a subfloor that avoids water damage, mold, and termites can last for decades. However, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause it to warp, rot, or grow mold, significantly shortening its life.

It’s possible to reuse household materials to cover floors, but they won’t provide the same level of protection as dedicated materials. They’re also more difficult to tape down and more prone to slipping and bunching up—and any dirt or debris on them could scratch or stain your floors. That being said, extra materials like these can be useful for protecting the sides of furniture and placing in areas that could use added protection.

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

There are many benefits to hiring a professional floor cleaner. First, these flooring pros know the right chemicals for your flooring type, which is essential for its longevity. Likewise, they have the proper deep-cleaning equipment, which is often more complex than a mop or broom. Not only that, but deep cleaning your floors can be a time-consuming process, and by hiring a professional, you can spend that time on other home improvement projects.

Door transitions can work with virtually any flooring type; however, different transition strips lend themselves better to specific flooring types. For instance, if you are bridging the gap between a taller floor, like carpet, to a shorter floor, like hardwood, then you will want a transition strip with a slight slope to bridge the height difference. These transition strips are called reducer molding. On the other hand, if you are bridging two floors of the same height, you can use flat transition strips, such as T-strips and seam binders.
