"Over all the job went fantastically well.  They worked 9 -10 hour days.  They were fast.  They were efficient.  They were CLEAN!!  Cleaning up after themselves as they went on throughout the day.  They met their time lines and they met their price points.  There were a few small add-on's at my request and they did them for cost.  They were creative and in my opinion "know how to make things work".  It is my experience that they are skilled craftsmen.  They are good at their trade.  I will, absolutely, hire them again for future work!!  The space looks amazing!!"

"We had a wonderful experience with Danleys and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a new garage. Our job was large and custom, making it slightly more complex than the average garage build. From start (demo of old garage) to finish, it took about 2 months to complete the job - and this was in the middle of their busy season. Throughout the process, Paul and the rest of his team were communicative and available to address questions or concerns as they came up. Because of the size and scope of our project, a few minor issues popped up, which is to be expected during a large construction project; Danleys and their vendors immediately addressed each concern in a timely fashion and made sure each issue was resolved. The end product is stunning and we couldn't be happier!"

"I had my whole kitchen done this time but Haris Inc has done several other projects for me, new basement bathroom gutted and remodeled to perfection! Also remodeled my basement, new lighting, floor, painted ceiling, walls, doors, stairs, removed wallpaper looks like new basement! The kitchen is phenomenal gutted entirely removed wall opened up kitchen and installed island, granite countertops, beautiful flooring , cabinets with crown molding. Island has own electrical outlet! I’m sure I’m missing a lot of what Haris Inc has done but that’s a little something for you to see how great this Company is. I have a couple of more projects for him to do and he will have redone every room in our home ! I recommend him to anyone, anytime!"

"We originally hired Peter to do the design only. We selected him over other architects and are pleased with the design. He listened to our ideas and provided very practical solutions and helped us with zoning variances. During the design phase, they added "and Builders" to their services. We selected Idea over a lower bid because of our good experience with Peter. The build is in progress and the sub-contractors are profession and do quality work. I will update this report when the build portion is complete."

"The entire job took approximately one month. I did the demo, so John and crew arrived on time on Monday morning and immediately began the plumbing and removal of two walls. The first week was tough as the attic was open while hangers were applied to the joists and the attic entry was moved. In that first week, the electrical sub began to run new lines for lighting as well as for the oven, microwave and vent, dishwasher et al. By week two, the attic was closed, the drywall was up and the drywall finisher had finshed mudding, taping and sanding. By week three, the electric was complete and the plumbing was done. The flooring had arrived by then and the installer spent much of that week laying the slate. Finally, on week three, most of the cabinets were installed, although an ordering error from the cabinet store created a delay in installation. During week three, some of the appliances were delivered and installed. On week four, the granite was installed, the remaining cabinets and appliances were installed, trim was added and other small jobs were completed. John was then paid, but did return a couple of weeks later to install cabinet hardware and remaining trim since those items were still on order when the bulk of the job was finished. Overall, I think John did an outstanding job and would not hesitte to recommend him to anyone. He even made friends with both of my dogs who adore him and miss seeing him daily!"

Garages questions, answered by experts

Garage door screens can expand your living space, turning a garage into a home office, gym, or entertainment space. They provide comfortable ventilation, insect control, and privacy, allowing you to enjoy your space all year round. Consult a local garage door screen installer to add this feature to your space.

The lifespan of garage door springs depends on the type and quality of the springs, the physical environment, and the level of use. In general, properly installed and maintained springs open and close a garage door around 10,000 times . That equates to around seven years if you open and close the door about four times a day. If you use your garage door more frequently, live in a very cold or humid environment that promotes corrosion or rust, or have a very heavy door, your springs may wear out faster and require replacing sooner.

The best options for lubricating a garage door are silicone- or lithium-based lubricants made specifically for this purpose. These products are designed to deeply penetrate the door's components, such as hinges and springs, providing long-lasting protection against wear and tear. A silicone-based lubricant is an excellent choice as it also prevents rust and corrosion and performs well in extreme heat and cold.

It is important to avoid certain products. Do not use heavy, oil-based lubricants or standard grease, as they can attract dust, dirt, and other debris that may get caught in the tracks. You should also avoid using WD-40, as it can strip away any existing lubrication.

You can typically find appropriate garage door lubricants online or at a local hardware store for less than $10.

The best paint for a garage door depends on the door's material, the desired finish, and durability requirements.

Paint Type

The type of paint you need often depends on the material of your garage door:

  • Aluminum Doors: Typically require exterior acrylic paint.

  • Vinyl and Wood Doors: Exterior latex paint is usually recommended.

  • Steel Doors: Professionals often use latex or oil-based paint.

You can choose between acrylic, oil-based, and latex paints. Acrylic paint offers excellent UV and weather resistance and dries quickly, but may require multiple coats. Oil-based paints are very durable and may only need one coat, but they dry slowly and emit more VOCs. Latex paint is available in a wide range of colors and is forgiving to apply, but it can crack over time and may require a primer for even coverage. For an eco-friendly option, consider acrylic latex paint.

Paint Finish

You have a wide variety of finishes to choose from, including semi-gloss, gloss, satin, eggshell, and matte. The choice is largely based on personal preference, but many people opt for a semi-gloss or gloss finish. These finishes dry to a hard, durable surface that stands up well to humidity and regular wear and tear.

Regardless of the type or finish, it's crucial to use a quality exterior paint that can withstand the elements. Using a primer before painting will ensure better adhesion and a more even, long-lasting result.

Yes, garage cabinets are worth it to organize the tools, supplies, equipment, and gear you’ve been storing in the garage. Garage cabinets provide a great way to declutter your space while also preserving your valuables—keeping them free from dust, debris, and various weather elements. Not to mention, garage cabinets also elevate the look of your garage, which can prove beneficial when you’re looking to sell your home.
