"Danny and his staff at Modern Quality Flooring have delivered quality craftsmanship multiple times while working on floors in our home. They are always quick to deliver estimates, give reliable timelines, arrive early to complete their job, and do beautiful work. They have installed wood flooring throughout entire floors in our house, patched, sanded and stained existing hardwood, and are planning to install laminate flooring in our basement next. We trust them to guide us in all future flooring endeavors."

"Mr Carpet was delightful to work with from beginning to end.  Mary, the office manager, scheduled our at home appointment around our schedules.  Michael came out to see us and described the different types of carpet.  We knew we wanted something in the brown family and Michael gave us tips... don't go too light as it will blend in the floor etc.  We thought about getting two staircases done (the second one leads to the basement).  Michael said let's do the most important one and I can always come back out when you are ready to do the second one.  We liked Michael's style; the time at our home was not rushed and very personable.  We decided to save a $100 and remove the old stair carpet ourselves (new home owners).  We removed the carpet the night before installation and we found the previous home owner had only done the varnish/wood stain to where the carpet was, not the complete staircase.  We knew this would be an issue the next day for installation, but it was  too late to call and reschedule.  Chaelo, the carpet installer, took a look and agreed we would need to to restain the stairs as the difference between the new carpet and old carpet would show. We wanted the carpet installed before Thanksgiving.  Chaelo called Mary and they squeezed us in the Wednesday before Thanksgiving without any issues.  Chaelo is like an artist the carpet is absolutely perfect ~ you can tell he takes pride in his work.  We would absolutely use Mr Carpet again; their customer service is excellent!

"Chris and his team did amazing work! Our floors are beautiful and they did a wonderful job with every detail. They went out of their way to match thresholds to the new floor color and they even fixed a closet door that had been broken for some time. Above and beyond a great job and I would recommend them to everyone!"

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

"Adrian and his team did a phenomenal job demoing our current floor & installing new luxury vinyl flooring. He kept our house extremely clean all considering ripping up tile & wood. He also continued to keep my wife and I in the loop on day to day work & revised time frames as we went. He is a master at his craft and we couldn’t be happier how our new floor & staircase came out!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Porcelain and ceramic tile are two of the longest-lasting kitchen flooring materials. However, while these materials can withstand a good amount of daily wear and tear, they’re likely to crack if you drop something heavy on them, and they’re pricier than many other options. On average, installing a ceramic tile kitchen floor costs between $1,240 and $11,250. Other durable kitchen flooring options include natural stone and concrete.

The flooring that is the least toxic is solid wood. Natural linoleum, tile, stone, bamboo, and cork flooring also make the list of least-toxic flooring types. These flooring materials are safer and healthier for your home because they are natural materials that aren’t manufactured with chemicals, unlike laminate flooring. While some laminate flooring brands are made with less formaldehyde, many contain high levels of toxic chemicals that can off-gas in your home for months and years after installation.

Choosing natural flooring materials that are easy to clean without chemical cleansers can also help keep your home safer.

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.
