"I called A-1 Superior Plumbing and they answered the call. They were able to accommodate my schedule and were out the following day and replaced the ejector pump. "Cliff was amazing. I requested a Plumber and he was prompt at picking up my request. First time actually using Angi's list due to unforeseen circumstances, last minute but with Cliff's help we made it work. Cliff is very informative on what he was doing to get the job done and is very good at what he does. Cliff reassured me that everything would be alright after stressing about not being able to use my bathroom. He was both effective and efficient as well as professional. I will definitely request Cliff's service again if needed and recommend anyone to him in need of a good plumbing job. Thank you Cliff for all your help."

"I had a pretty extensive drain back up into my shower that I attempted to address myself to no avail. Chris was incredibly prompt to respond to my request for service, came out within the hour on a Saturday and spent quite some time attacking the issue. When it was determined he needed more equipment and a second set of hands he assured me he would be back first thing the next day, Sunday, which he did. The issue was resolved, Chris was informative, helpful, charged fairly for the work and professional every step of the way. I will for sure be using him again and highly recommend him!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Brown stains in your toilet bowl are most likely limescale. Limescale happens from lime being left behind from hard water evaporating. Once dried out, the minerals also catch dirt and bacteria which eventually accumulate into the brown or blackish stain you see in your toilet. To remove thick and hard limescale from your toilet, use a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda, and scrub with a metal scrubbing brush.

Many parts of your plumbing system can fail, but clogged drains are one of the biggest plumbing problems you’ll likely encounter. From your kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or bathtub, there are plenty of opportunities for gunk, hair, food scraps, and more to get stuck in drains. When this happens, water will slowly drain, leading to standing water, bad odors, drain flies, and other issues.

Many homeowners can handle a minor clog themselves, but if you have a clog in your main line, you’re best off hiring a local plumber to get the drain back to its normal flow rate.

If your toilet is still leaking after replacing the toilet flapper, then you may not have installed the toilet flapper correctly. Double-check that you have placed the flapper over the overflow tube correctly, and check the flapper chain is at the right length. If your toilet is still leaking, then you may have another problem on hand. For example, you may need to replace the toilet wax ring or replace the toilet fill valve if your toilet is wobbly and leaking from around the base.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

After flushing the toilet, you should have about half a tank full of water. While the exact amount of water you’ll have will vary, you want to make sure you have enough to cover the bottom of the bowl and enough to sit above the P-trap drain. While low water in your toilet bowl can indicate a problem, too much water can also be cause for concern.
