"Dave was willing to work with my limited availability. He created route from my electrical panel to the garage that was most direct and efficient, saving me money on the cost of supplies. I have already spoken to him about another project I need an electrician for."

"Customer service was exceptionable and a pleasant experience. We had tree damage that cut our ComEd power (3PM). After ComEd cut tree limbs we were told the Weather Head had to be replaced before power was restored. We searched Angi & contacted MD (4AM) they texted within minutes and asked when they could call at our convenience or we could call them. We called @ 9AM and MD said Claude could come that afternoon. I said OK and explained what needed to be done. I was then told to hold and MD came back and said someone could be there in 35-40 minutes and I said great. They came out (10AM) checked line and said Meter Housing had to also be replaced. They had to go to a supplier to get housing and fixed both including reattaching AT&T line. Since there was excess electrical wire when the original Weather Head was installed MD was able to save us the cost of new wiring. They were done be 11AM and ComEd was done at 3PM that day. Thank You and your HOLMES attitude MAKE IT RIGHT the 1st time."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Lansing, choose copper wiring rated for Midwest temperature extremes and use NEMA 3R or 4X enclosures for outdoor areas to protect against snow and rain. PVC or rigid metal conduit is ideal for underground work, considering Lansing’s frost line. Always select materials that meet the latest electrical code and purchase from trusted local suppliers for reliable, code-compliant results.

Helpful?

In Lansing, electrical panels in homes from the 1950s to 1980s often require upgrades to handle modern loads. Kitchens and bathrooms typically need dedicated circuits and GFCI protection. Basements, especially those prone to dampness, can develop wiring issues over time. Outdoor outlets and lighting are vulnerable to freeze-thaw cycles, while garages and workshops may need updated circuits as your electrical needs grow.

Helpful?

Begin by having a local electrician assess your home’s electrical panel and wiring, especially if your Lansing property is older or has undergone recent renovations. Prepare detailed project plans and secure all necessary permits before starting. Coordinate with your utility provider early if upgrades are needed. Schedule inspections in advance, and try to plan outdoor electrical work for spring or fall to avoid Lansing’s harsh winter conditions.

Helpful?

In Lansing, signs that electrical work may need updating include frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm to the touch. Watch for outdated knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring, especially in homes built before 1970. Evidence of moisture near panels, missing GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, or extension cords used as permanent wiring are also clear indicators that professional evaluation is needed.

Helpful?

When hiring for electrical work in Lansing, choose professionals familiar with local codes and the unique challenges of area homes. Verify they have proper insurance and can provide recent references from Lansing residents. Avoid contractors requesting full payment upfront or lacking a local address. Request detailed written estimates, and ensure they understand the local permit process for a safe and compliant electrical project.
