"I called A-1 Superior Plumbing and they answered the call. They were able to accommodate my schedule and were out the following day and replaced the ejector pump. My dealings with this company were positive. Joe, who came to my home to do the job, was professional and efficient and I would definitely use them again."

"Came to figure out what was wrong with an old toilet that wasn't flushing.
I was sure it wasn't clogged.
Charlie ended up replacing the toilet. He took care of the whole thing,
from diagnosing the issue to getting the replacement toilet and

"R.A. Plumbing and Mechanical Services is an exceptional company! It's rare that you could call a business actually speak to a very personable owner who explains the process in complete detail from start to finish and give you a accurate quote. There were no tricks or gimmicks just straight up conversation and a very concerned Plumbing guy and his crew. Jerry was my service man and he was also exceptional! He was very professional he came and did exactly what he was here to do and I even had to get a sump pump replaced but the process was very seamless and because they were already here working on my water heater they gave me a discount. I am very happy with the services I received today and I would recommend R.A. Plumbing and Mechanical Services to anyone looking for professional plumbing work."

"Mr. Bell and his sons have done several jobs for us. They have rodded the line to the catch basin, installed a new sump pump, replaced the tub faucets, and rodded out to the sewer and used the camera to show it was clear. All the work was completed at a reasonable price. We highly recommend him He explained what was needed & did it. He is honest, reliable, and professional."

"I had a pretty extensive drain back up into my shower that I attempted to address myself to no avail. Chris was incredibly prompt to respond to my request for service, came out within the hour on a Saturday and spent quite some time attacking the issue. When it was determined he needed more equipment and a second set of hands he assured me he would be back first thing the next day, Sunday, which he did. The issue was resolved, Chris was informative, helpful, charged fairly for the work and professional every step of the way. I will for sure be using him again and highly recommend him!"

"They cleaned out catch basin, repaired it (one of the bricks fell out) and tuckpointed it. Also scoped my sewer line. My home was built in 1910. Able was very responsive and professional. Their competitors never even returned my phone calls. I’d definitely hire them again."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

The most common toilet repair is dealing with clogs, followed closely by replacing a worn-out flapper. While clogs can happen anytime in any toilet, they most commonly occur with older toilets that have smaller diameter clearances and often empty into smaller diameter sewer connections. Because toilet flappers only last a few years, they are next in line for the most common toilet failures.

You should replace your toilet at least every 25 years. While toilets are pretty sturdy appliances, they don’t last forever. Even if you aren’t ready to invest in the cost of a bathroom remodel yet, just replacing your toilet will help freshen up your space and keep your bathroom functioning.

Installation costs range from $150 to $400, depending on toilet type and labor.

The best way to stop your toilet bowl from sweating is to increase ventilation and get rid of the humidity in your bathroom. You can do this in a number of ways. Sometimes, cracking a window or running your exhaust fan is enough. You can also run an air conditioner or install a dehumidifier
