"Joe arrived promptly as scheduled, and performed the work quickly and efficiently.  He explained the new system, the battery and the alarm on the sump pump.  He replaced the laundry room faucet, which was original to the house.  I will be contacting Joe in the near future to work on my kitchen and bathroom faucets.

"Was on time to appt and diagnosed issue fast. I was under the impression it was a fixed rate repair but this was almost $100 more. But, since I needed my sump pump fixed, I didn't question it. Otherwise, great repair and would use this company again."

"Excellent service - Charlie was responsive regarding the quote and the service. I was notified of any potential delays and Charlie provided me with multiple options every step of the way. Service was provided in a careful manner to ensure all of my property was protected (floors, walls, etc.) and following installation of the new water heater all of the mess was cleaned up. I am very happy with the overall service and after obtaining multiple quotes I believe that the service I received from Charlie was not only reasonably priced, but was very high quality. I would take into consideration Charlie's competence along with the price when evaluating any cost estimate from him. I think he's your man if you need something difficult done - he's more than willing to make the square peg fit into the round hole."

"Installed a sump pump in our crawling space. They were really great to work with, responded very quickly, were able to assess the project accurately and give us a very competitive quote. Was very efficient and completed the project in half a day. They were friendly and happy to answer all of our questions as well as give us a range of options. Would definitely hire again."

"We called Patrick to fix a sewer smell in our basement. After digging out a section of the floor, he found a pipe installed by the previous owner that had never been correctly attached to the sewer main. He and his crew worked on a Friday and Saturday to fix the issue. They jackhammered out the floor, dug up the old pipe and replaced it. Patrick was very attentive and showed me all the steps he was taking, carefully explaining everything that needed to be done. Cleaned up afterward and finished the job without issue. Highly recommended."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Sump pumps remove excess water from the lowest point of your home, which prevents flooding. When a sump pit fills with water, a sump pump pushes that water outside of the basin and into an exterior discharge pipe. From there, the water flows away from your home, so it doesn’t damage your foundation.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.
