"Recently, I had a sewage pump failure. One major quality for me is professionalism from the phone staff and technicians. Fortunately, both were above my expectations. They were attentive to my needs and concerns, Martin, the technician that performed the replacement of the pump was professional and expeditious during the job. Lastly, Martin was informative and patient to answers all my questions. I highly recommend this company."

"I called A-1 Superior Plumbing and they answered the call. They were able to accommodate my schedule and were out the following day and replaced the ejector pump. My dealings with this company were positive. Joe, who came to my home to do the job, was professional and efficient and I would definitely use them again."

"The plumbing on the lower level of my place went haywire a couple of weeks ago and there was a smelly overflow of water coming out of the drain where my furnace and hot water heater drained condensation.  I called Charlie in a bit of a panic and left a message.  I waited a couple of hours and called back, and he picked up to let me know he was working on another job and would call me back.  Charlie called back around 9:30pm and told me that the issue is most likely related to my sump pump.  I told Charlie I had to leave for work at a certain time the next day so he said he could come over in the morning.  In the meanwhile, he told me not to run any water on the lower level.
When Charlie came over, he checked the electrical connection first, which was fine, and eventually found out that the sump pump had died.  So right away, he ran out to grab a new one and came back quickly to begin replacing the pump.  When he tested the new sump pump, it still didn't work, and he ended up finding a clog in the pipes.  He fixed that issue right away.  Charlie finished right by the time I had to leave for work.
Throughout the process, he took the time to explain what he was doing and gave me some tips along the way, which was much appreciated by this first time home buyer.  It was nice to experience someone so thorough and nice... Plus, Charlie gave me a good price on the services.  It's nice to know he's close by, too.  I'd give him a call again if I ran into any other plumbing issues.

"It went very well. Patrick explained everything he was doing and what my options were. I never felt he was trying to generate unnecessary work. He also understood the urgency and came out on a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend to handle the follow up. I would strongly recommend him and he'll be the first one I call if I need plumbing services in the future."

Customers say: Quick response

"Byron & his team showed up on time and proceeded to remove the old water lines. They spent days & hours installing the new water lines (correctly) and digging a ditch for the new sump pump as well as re-piping the kitchen and bath. His team was professional and cleaned up. The village inspector came out and the plumbing passed with flying colors. This review doesn't do justice to the quality and time Big Wrench took with my home. I would highly recommend them.

"Everything went well. He was nice guy that gave a fair estimate. I know the estimate was fair because this job was priced out with a few other companies. He seemed to be one of the most knowledgeable people I spoke to so I would recommend him based off our inaction, his fair price, and his clear understanding of the plumbing issue."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

To maintain your sump pump, start by checking it every three to four months to ensure it’s in working order. Clear any debris from the pit because blockages can prevent the pump from operating efficiently. You should also test the pump by pouring a bucket of water into the pit. If it turns on automatically and drains the water, it’s functioning correctly. Inspect the discharge line for clogs, and ensure it directs water away from your home. Once a year, clean the pump itself, and consider having it professionally serviced for optimal performance.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

If you’re wondering if your home even needs a sump pump, consider whether you’ve struggled with flooding issues in the past. If your house is in a flood-prone area, your yard has poor drainage, or you’ve dealt with any other water problems, then it’s likely well worth it to replace your old sump pump with a new one.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.

DIY is possible for simple repairs. Professional services ensure proper diagnostics and long-term reliability.
