"All Affordable Plumbing was great to work with. They address my primary issue which was an issue with the plumbing in the basement. Secondly, I had mentioned to them that I will be doing a kitchen remodel project in the near future and that I will need to have the drain relocated. What they did was stage the area in prepapration for that project, so that there will be minimal work for when I start that project and have the sink in the new location. Lastly, they were very organized and professional with their work. Also, they left the area cleaner than what I presented to them"

"Our contractor was going to charge us $4,000 to dig out our interior foundation and set drain tile. Reliance Plumbing came and found the source of the problem - a broken pipe. They fixed it the same day! Alex is a great water detective!"

"The job took less than a week. The pricing is based upon the perimeter of the area where drain tile is installed and the pump/battery backup I chose. I most appreciated the way that Stoyan worked with me. He made two separate visits to my home and spent more than an hour each time talking me through the science and the job itself in great detail, answering my many questions. He also answered questions via email promptly in an understandable way. When he came out for his final visit after the job was finished, he demonstrated how it works, again staying for as long as it took to answer my questions. He also took extra time before leaving to fix the leaky connections beneath our utility sink - something that he had not caused but that I asked for his help with. We had our first heavy storm last week, the neighbor's yard filled up like a pond as usual, and the pump worked just as he had demonstrated, so I was pleased and feel confident that this will be a good investment."

"Outstanding customer service provided by Sean when I needed a really bad drain backup cleared. He quickly came out to my home IN THE EVENING and took care of clearing my drain as well as the mess that was there from the stinky and gross overflow. When he finished the job he gave me some great tips on how to avoid this from happening again. So happy with his service and the bonus recommendations to keep my drain clean and clear. Highly recommend Legendary... and Sean! He has helped me with my furnace and my AC previously and is a great tech that knows his stuff! He's quick, polite and cleans up everything when done. BEST HVAC TECH & PLUMBER!!"

"Real Seal did a great job. The estimator visited and walked me through everything, took his time to look for potential causes of a our problem, questioned up extensively about when we had problems and ended up suggesting that we start small (and inexpensive) to see if fixing a crack would solve problems. Other estimators with other companies went straight to really expensive drain tile systems without looking for other possible solutions. The work was scheduled promptly and they did a great job. They called back and checked on how everything was working 24 hours after the install, and scheduled a second visit to make sure everything was working well and that I was happy with the result. I would hire Real Seal again and highly recommend them."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

If you've discovered a rather frightening buildup of brown and black gunk below your shower cover, you're not alone. The smelly sludge is often a collection of mildew and biofilm. Biofilm comes from the breakdown of soap scum, hair, skin cells, and bacteria that collects during shower time. It's quite common in a humid space and relatively easy to clean with a gentle DIY cleaning solution such as baking soda and vinegar.

Preventing water accumulation involves regular inspections, maintaining effective drainage systems, ensuring proper roof maintenance, and taking preventive measures against heavy rainfall or floods.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.

Plumbers use a variety of tools to help unclog the toughest of drain clogs, but the most common tools they use are drain snakes and augers. They try a plunger or drain snake to start, then move to heavy-duty augers, and finally try using a hydro jetter to blast away the clog with high-pressure water. Hiring a plumber to unclog a drain costs $125 to $300, largely depending on the extent and location of the clog and which of these methods is best for clearing it.

If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.
