"I wholeheartedly recommend Norpro Services, and Mihai in particular! I needed to convert an empty second floor into a bathroom, bedroom and walk-in closet for my daughters. I had never done a build from scratch and I'm so thankful that I picked Mihai and Norpro for the job. The completed project is absolutely beautiful. His crew of subcontractors were professional, courteous and did really high quality work. Mihai has excellent project management skills, is a perfectionist about quality and taking the time to get things right, he's a good listener and also anticipated problems or challenges in advance, which saved us a ton of time. The project was completed on time, on budget, and I could not be happier with the final project. He is one of the best contractors I've ever worked with."

Customers say: True professional

"Nermin was timely in bidding, starting and completing the project. This project was large and required working around a very strict work schedule as imposed by my condo association. He was informative when explaining why certain planned design options would have to be modified to accommodate an unknown issue discovered during the demolition process. Was accommodating when materials needed to be picked up, often offering to retrieve them on my behalf. Also, he made himself available to meet contractors when needed to perform specialized work outside the scope of his bid. Work site cleanup was great. No residual damage was noted upon project completion. I really enjoyed working with a Nermin and Sons."

"I don't even know where to begin... I am so incredibly pleased with every aspect of my experience with Redstone Builders. So much so, that we're already talking to them about some other work we'd like done on the interior of our house.
Howard, the owner, is great . From the moment my husband and I met him, it was clear that he doesn't play games like some other contractors. He listened to what we wanted, and made recommendations on what materials to use and what options would solve specific issues.
We are very price conscious, so Howard was transparent with us about the differences in cost between options. He let us know that the choice was always ours, and reassured us if the price wasn't in our comfort zone that we could revisit the plan and remove or adjust options to make it work. I can't stress what a relief this was, considering our experience with the previous contractor we'd contacted for a quote.
Before I go on to describe how happy I am with the work they did, first let me list out some of the other reasons why I can't say enough great stuff about Redstone:
  • + Communication with Howard was great - he answered questions and returned calls promptly.
  • + Punctuality was superb - Howard arrived when he said he would (the one time he was running behind, he called to let us know), and his crew was here every day that work was being done from 8-4 like clockwork.
  • + Other work they've done is great too - When we were considering Redstone, Howard gave us a list of porches they'd done to give us an idea of what they're capable of - let me just say wow. If his professionalism hadn't sold us, the quality of their work did.

Now, as for the work they did for us: WE LOVE OUR PORCH.
John, the carpenter, is wonderful and amazing at what he does. Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference - the beveling on the custom base caps to match the posts - Replacing a couple of floor boards to ensure the newel post lined up with the new stairs - grinding the corners on the reclaimed newels to ensure they all match... Stuff you don't think to ask for. Small details that show a pride in work that isn't common these days.
By the time the work was done, we were the proud owners of a porch so great looking, we've almost driven past our house because we don't recognize it!
What else can I say? If you want to work with someone that you can trust, who will do the work at a fair price, and who will leave you with something better than you imagined - go with Redstone.
A++ all around for these guys!

"Chester is the epitome of honest, fair and thoroughly professional. He stands by his work and when unrelated crisis occurred donthe the aging infrastructure in our village - think raw sewage flowing into our newly redone basement ... three times - Chester responded each and every time literally saving us; working with our insurance company and thencoming up with a creative, safe and economical solution to protect us FROM the village system. We cannot say enough positive things about him, his stable workforce who we have known for over a decade, and the careful manner in which he listens to his client, helps work within a budget, and is reliable. The big question - is it possible to love your contractor? My husband and I respond enthusiastically "YES"!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.
