However, for my wife and I, there is no way we would ever go back to a traditional fireplace as the replacement is so realistic and convenient (realism, aesthetics, and function). In addition to the fireplace, we also had a stainless steel chase cover (20-year warranty) installed to keep out the elements (the old one leaked terribly) and anchored securely to withstand poor weather. Sootmaster also sealed all the mortar cracks and applied several coats of Chimney Saver to the entire brick chimney. As for value, I rated Sootmaster as 4.0/5.0 only because their price is on the high-side.
