"Glenn is fantastic! He painted the interior of our whole house, including trim, baseboards, doors, walls and bathroom cabinets. He took care of imperfections he saw, such as caulking all the baseboards, which really made the end result look so much better. Glenn also painted our Kitchen Cabinets, which are beautiful! They turned out better than I expected. The kitchen looks so much brighter and the cabinets are extremely durable and easy to clean. He power washed the outside of the house and the "Mancave". I will definitely have him return yearly to do the power washing of our house, due to the high algae build up in our area. Our next project for him will be to powerwash our deck and paint it. I can't wait :) Glenn is professional, friendly and trustworthy. You can't go wrong! I recommend you hire him the minute he walks in your door!"

Pressure Washing questions, answered by experts

Hardscaping is made to withstand the elements, but it still needs regular cleaning as well as maintenance like weeding, replacing broken pieces, removing mold or mildew, and more. Use an appropriate cleaner for the hardscaping material with a stiff brush to remove dirt and other material, or use a pressure washer for a deep clean. Staying on top of maintenance can alert you to any problems with your hardscaping that will need repair or replacement.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Yes, most pressure washing companies use your home's water supply, typically from an outdoor spigot. However, some companies can bring their own water in a tank or truck. This is less common and may incur additional costs for filling and hauling the water. It's a good idea to ask a company which method they use when you call for a cost estimate.

Experts agree that spring and fall are the best times to pressure wash a home's exterior due to the milder weather. Aim to schedule the project once a year during a warm, dry season, typically between March and November, depending on your local climate. Many prefer the spring to clean away dirt and grime that has gathered over the winter, preparing the house for the rest of the year. You can always perform touch-ups in the summer or fall as needed.

No, pressure washing isn’t recommended for cartridge filters. The high pressure can damage the filter paper, and the gentler pressure from a regular garden hose will work to rinse the cartridge filter. If the cartridge is very dirty or has algae or mineral buildup, you can use a muriatic acid solution to soak the filter and remove the buildup.
