"I have known Brett for years and hired him to look at a water heater that had been damaged by previous renters. He was prompt in his response, clear in his communication, and did the work exactly as I needed. He is a hardworking and honest plumber who will not try to upsell you, and he really cares about his customers and looks out for them. It's great to have someone trustworthy in the plumbing industry!"

"My plumber, Eric, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He discussed the problem with my kitchen faucet and the solution with me and then he fixed it. I will contact these folks first next time I have a plumbing problem."

"I contacted TYCO Plumbing with regards to an issue with our water heater. They were quick to respond back and got us on the schedule for the following day. Their technicians, Josh and Lance were responsive, on time and very professional. The work that they performed was high quality and they had the job completed within a couple of hours. I would absolutely recommend TYCO and plan on using them for all of my future plumbing needs."

"Finding water dripping from an upstairs toilet down through the smoke alarm in my kitchen ceiling I called a plumber recommended by a friend; they could be out in 3 days! So in a mild panic, I got on the internet and found Flatirons Plumbing. I liked that they are a family owned business. The gal who answered the phone was very pleasant and Larry showed up 2 hours later!! He was extremely knowledgeable and not only fixed that problem, but fixed an additional toilet while he was there. I feel great to know that now I have a plumber and would highly recommend Flatirons!"

"!!Support Local Busuness, Not the Big Box Stores!! OH NO...Not again! After 2 1/2 years the water heater installed by Euro was leaking. At least this time it didn't flood half my basement. Only a quarter, Any homeowner can tell you that you cannot survive without hot water. So who you gonna call?? The Euro Plumbing guys! (There may be a Euro Plumbing gal, but if so, they keep her hidden). When I called, Dimi was conspicuously out of town. So, I spoke with David who set me up with an appointment post haste. I asked if he could send out the guy pictured on the side of their truck. He said "no problem"! I was given a 2 hour arrival window and the truck showed up half way in between. Out pops Boris! Complete with his red tool box and plumber's wrench. He is not quite the guy pictured on the side of their truck, but at least he is stronger and better looking than Dimi (at least that's what he says). So, he went to work right away. I asked when he thought he would be finished, and he said 12 p.m. First we had to drain and disconnet the old heater and take it in for exchange. He is a good driver, but he doesn't always wear his seat belt. And, he was constantly making jokes and giving me a hard time. That's OK, I can take it. Back at the house now, and Boris had the new water heater installed in about 45 minutes. So, I asked him what time it was. Both hands of the clock were squarely on the number 12. He knows his job! Euro Plumbing and Boris will always be the first I call when I need plumbing services. We should all think about supporting our local businesses instead of the "Big Box" stores. Euro Plumbing, who has to compete with them, understands the importance of their customers and gives them much better service. I am a repeat cusomer, and it is because of Euro's competence, fairness, commitment to their work and the fact they realize it is their customers who keep them in business. You won't find that at a "Big Box" chain. Thanks, Boris. I appreciate your work and dilegence. You are a great representative of Euro's customer service. Chas Wagner"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Shut-off valves, like any other piece of metal hardware, can corrode, age, get worn down, and eventually break or rust into place. Occasionally spray your shut-off valve with WD-40 to stall it from rusting. If it really gets stuck, a wrench and WD-40 will usually do the trick, but you will need to call a plumber if it’s completely unmovable.

Soldering is a secure way to fix a leaky copper pipe, but if you don’t have access to a soldering iron, you can use a slip repair coupling or compression couplings. These types of couplings tighten with a wrench or by hand. If you’re looking for a temporary solution that doesn’t require soldering, you can use epoxy putty or adhesive tape.

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.

While gasket-sealed PVC flanges are the type most commonly found in homes, flanges come in a range of different materials, including copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum, that pros sometimes secure with glue. If this is the case in your bathroom, the replacement is a job better left to the pros.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.
